Hi Folks,

Just got a second-hand one of these printers.

Start it up and, after pressing the ok button, it says:
"A printer error has occurred. Please turn off printer, then on again. Please see your documentation"

I heard it may be something to do with having to resetting it. Does anyone know what needs done here?

Thanks for your time,

Stu

if it needed resetting they normaly tell u parts may be worn.
i have a new rx685 and if the ink isnt loaded properly it says that.

also i dont think the resetter app covers this model yet
as theres no waste ink bottle either.
the only good thing is they have not long released the ink system for them.

anyway nice 1st post try here

When you say yours says this when the ink isn`t loaded properly - what do you mean and what way did you re-load it to make it ok

Thanks

what you need to do is contact epson via their home page and ask for the nearest computer shop that has contract with epson, the likely problem is that the ink monitor needs resetting and the ink pads need changing,

This is not the error you get when your printer needs resetting due to worn parts or ink pad renewal (the other poster is right though, there is no DIY reset for this printer yet).

Get hold of your local service shop and ask them if they can reset the printer without actually doing a service for cash, it should cost you £10 or so and then you will be able to see if it needs further work or that the reset cleared your problem.

FYI the ink pad in the 685 can hold enough ink for 3 resets (services) without needing changing. I was told this by my local Epson techie.
