Hi

I have a laptop that was working fine, other than running a little slow so decided to reinstall windows, I got all the way through the install and was running the last of the windows updates and got a BSOD. after a little tinkering I decided to re-install again, however now I get a BSOD at the same point during the install of windows, the machine reboots after copying all the install files from the CD, then when it gets to the screen with the small progress bar on the left it Blue Screens whilst installing device drivers.

I have swapped hard drive and memory, removed the CD drive and tried installing from a USB key but I still get the same problem.

Do you think the laptop is goosed????

find "Hiren's" latest boot cd - lots of utility programs on there (explore hard drive, fix master boot record etc.) I would try to recover the original install if possible (did you format the drive ?) Laptops can be tricky for a re-install but if so did you save your file with the windows key in it and also any drivers that are needed ? Also if you formatted the drive did you use the command : format c:/u (the /u means unconditional and can remove hidden viruses.

Is there any chance your laptop requires special Sata drivers? Press f6 during install to add them. This will casue a Blue screen despite what hardware you change.
