My brother has got an xfx nvidia geforce 8500gt graphics card, he says hes installed it etc and it seems fine, but it has a cable with it and hes not sure what its for, its about 8inch long with two wires that are black and white, the cable has plugs on each end, could someone tell me what this cable is for and/or if its needed ?

hmmm, i wonder, would the card work if it was an important cable, the card seemingly is working ok, but he may think its ok when its not if you know what i mean, hes not very clue'd up with computers.

In which case its more likely he's either plugged it in or there wasn't one.

But even if he's left it out the card will work without it. Its only there to provide extra power during resource intensive games like COD4, Bio Shock etc...

hmmm, he actually says that he has been using cod4, hes saying that the graphics look superb compared to what hes used to, but they would be as it was onboard graphics before, as i say, the guy doesnt really know the difference to be honest.

So to check, what exactly do i tell him to look out for with these cables etc, he said its an xfx geforce 8500gt with 512mb ram, dont know if that helps u any.

He's looking for a connector like this:

and the card should have come with a lead like this:

But not all cards have the connector as they don't need the extra power...
