hi guys just dug an old laptop out of the loft its bin there about 2 years a fujitsu siemens lifebook e series the problem is it has been pin code protected and no one can remember the pin code is there any way of bypassing this code as the laptop will not boot untill the code has been entered.. cheers

the pin is setup in bios.. there are different ways to do it.. obviously the easier being from the bios.. but it may ask you for the pin to switch it off...

best thing is to reset bios and thats you..

Markysparky is right there are loads of ways of doing it....but you may also be able to do it by pulling all the leccy to it and pulling out the bios battery for a while....

that may help...

You'll have to Google for the answers I suspect... It's usually different on a Laptop, on a Desktop unit, you'd pull the battery for a few mins, and swap the CMOS jumper out, but many laptops won't allow this method for security reasons.

It's often still possible, but unless you get lucky and somebody here knows how F/S set their Lappys up, then you'll need to trawl Google for the answers... (Or perhaps somebody will have enough time on their hands to Google for you!)

As a starting point, you could try locating the battery, and removing it for 10 mins or so... (Making sure there is no power running to the unit) Other than that, it's research time! ;)

Well before you launch it into the bin....has it got a floppy drive in it and a serial port...??

If so.....try this...

it is designed into bios as a "Backdoor" so that you can get in by making the device shown in the pdf....it plugs into the serial port and allows you to write over the top of the bios....so if you want to you can update it or just plain re-write it....so should help with the non-booting....
