hi all got one of the above today it came with ViX4E2PROJECT (Latest)but how to put mg_cfg so i can put my line in or how to flash it have run dcc but cant find the normal files like you see in dreambox or the zgemma h1

thanks all

Don't bother, Mgcamd is old and out dated and known to give issues with some of the latest images (it's also why it's no longer available from the addons server).

A better idea, download OScam from the addons server (choose MIPS_ONLY), activate it in the softcam manager and then you will be able to access the OScam WebIf at http://ip-address-of-receiver:8888 from which you can configure how you like and there will be some easy to edit pre-made examples making it as easy as possible.

The other alternative is CCcam, download this from the addons server (2.3.0 is the only available version) and then create your own CCca.cfg file and FTP this over to the /etc folder, then just start the cam in Softcam Manager.

hi m8 many thanks for the quick reply i thought that CCcam was no good for cable but will download it as per your instruction ,but when i had a look early could not see the folders /etc folder//
thats when i thought about flashing it vix which is on my zgemma h1 that was easy to set up ??
thanks

Most line providers do not support cccam and may actually disable your line if trying to use cccam :)

It's a common misconception that 'providers do not support CCcam' or that CCcam 'can only be used with C lines' - It's simply not true.... If you are using CCcam as a client only then it can work with multiple protocols including C lines and N lines (the Mgcamd protocol will use an N line - the main difference between Mgcamd and Newcamd is that Mgcamd can support multiple caids, Newcamd can't). Every line provider will support you using CCcam as a client only, if they don't then you need to find a new provider that knowns what they are doing!

The /etc folder will be there from the root directory for sure, if you download CCcam and try and run it without the config file being in place it won't do any harm it will just pop up an 'error' box that tells you you need to add the CCcam.cfg file and where it needs to be placed.

You maybe best explaining that to them because the ones I know of all say they do not support cccam as it puts more demand on their server than likes of mgcam/newcamd or oscam.

Sure, if they need some help with configuration I am sure I can help :)

Maybe you could mate but it is fact some servers will ban anyone they see connecting with CCcam most servers for Cable require you to use mgcamd of Oscam. This is fact.

Quite possibly those that don't know what they are doing, but then I can't think why you'd choose to use them as your provider if that's the case.

I have heard ones which are set against you using OScam and yes there is a little more of a reason behind that but any provider insisting you don't use CCcam as a client really isn't worth touching.

I don't know if it's related to the fact that i'm sure I read somewhere cccam always retrieves the NDS data regardless of fact it maybe the same as last one, whereas mgcamd, etc cache the NDS data so will only request decrypt response if NDS data is different from last one used.

If this is true then I can see why this would have less an impact on a server.

I can assure you that's not the case if setup correctly, there will be no more/less strain on any server between using CCcam or Mgcmad as the client... My guess is this all stems from the 'providers' that are saying this are actually using CSP or similar which has been setup for them and they have been given their own portal where they can can add/remove users but that's about it, they probably don't have much of a clue what a card or server really is, I've seen quite a lot of this going on over the past couple of years it also answers why many will be offering N lines and having no real way of stopping you resharing other than turning you off.

Anyway no real issue, if that's the case with your provider then sounds like using OScam will be acceptible so either go with that or find yourself a real provider that allows you to use other types of client software would be the better solutions, or if you really wanted you can try Mgcamd, the same one you use with OpenViX will work exactly the same with ViX4E2PROJECT, I have read it's given issues with later build OE-A branch based builds which my latest ViX4E2PROJECT builds will be using (based off branch 3.3 at the moment) but that's only what I've read I have never tried so by all means give it a go if you don't want to go with the other options. :)

just like to thanks to all for your post i think easy way would be to flash box to the same as my zgemma star h1 which has got vix an mgcamd is never mist a beat so far this new box is turn into a night mare just like me sunray
thanks all

You have gone from a cheap Chinese receiver with 'fake' OpenViX image to a genuine up to date branded receiver with official firmware support from many groups including my own ViX4E2PROJECT builds... The hardware you have now is good, the firmware choice you have is good, you just need to take the next little step with a bit of reading up on setup and you will be way ahead of the others you've had in terms of both hardware and firmware, good luck :)

I use latest build of OpenVix 4 and use mgcamd as my softcam without an issue.

So if mgcamd v138 from openvix 4 will work on Vix4E2Project then this can be downloaded from:-

https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/index.php?resources/4077/

I've added the above to the ViX4E2PROJECT plugins server now (for the EVO Enfinity T2/C only at present) so it will be available as a direct download and install from the plugins menu now on this model only for those that wish to give it a try.

hi m8 have down load that to the box and can see it but cant see where to put me
line ie the folder user/keys have i misted something
thanks

Your config file on Mgcamd goes in /var/keys according to the message it gives when you activate it from Softcam Manager. It doesn't come with config file though you have to provide your own (the same one you've used previously should be fine).

going wrong some wear i now line is good working on zgemma box as mgcamd 1.38 take that box off www put same line in my evo t2/cable stop restart cam nothing only fta no hair left to pull out ??

Sorry I'm not familiar with Mgcamd configuration but going on what's been said etc. is there any reason for you not to be using OScam?
