Guys .. this Plex Dream box (and service) looks VERY interesting ...

Seems a bit suspect that they are quoting different amounts of stored films (1TB, 30TB and 250TB) but seems like a very viable way of getting media and live streams directly from a source.

I already have a Plex server and love it to bits but being able to connect directly with a fully loaded Plex server really appeals :)

Whats the advantages of Plex Dream Box over Kodi + Addons?
I tried Plex and could never get the hang of the interface and tend to use Kodi to play stuff from my NAS and also stream through the addons.

I sent them a DM and they confirmed that the Movies are stored directly on their server so I would expect that doing it the 'Plex Dream' way would mean better reliability (more bandwidth hence less buffering)instead of using something like SS-Plex which just amalgamates (aggregates) lots of links from all over the place.

They didnt confirm if the IPTV side is served by their own feeds though or if they just reuse someone elses stream. If they provide their own HD quality streams and they really do host their own Movies then providing the bandwidth is sufficient it should give a very good service indeed :)

They do a month by month payment at £7.50 so it would be possible to try it out before committing to £50 a year for the service.

Of course the downside is that its a single point of failure so if their servers go down ... you get nowt !

Was looking at this myself, would it just be a case of installing the Plex app on my android device then buying the connection only service? They mention something about a pin code. I already have kodi set up but wouldn't mind trying this

guys theres loads of plex servers going, iv been following a group of them on facebook, iv never actually paid them for there service but they seem a good bunch and great service, been following for a year or so, if your interested take a look here.

Facebook

That's the problem though ... I don't actually know (or know of) anyone who has actually used a service such as this.

I (and obviously most of the people on DW) am personally tech savvy enough to configure my own addons and fix them when they break etc but I wondered how good a service like this would be for a parent (or someone that just wants to plug a box in and watch) ?

I dont think it would ever be worth trying out a 12 month sub as I can see these being shutdown pretty quick but I am still interested anyhow :)

I use a paid Plex server costs £5 PM, I still use kodi sometimes but Plex is quicker and more stable and most is in hd, plus on my et10k the interface is quite good you should give it a try for a month see how you like it, my mum, dad and bro have the same server and they love it too

I got a notification saying there was a post on this thread but it looks like its been deleted. Anyway it reminded me the thread was here and out of interest I took a look at the facebook and direct link (see Post 1) and I now see that PlexDream is dead which backs up my previous thoughts that paying for any IPTV service (especially on a 6-12 month sub) is a very bad idea :(

I understand why people would want to pay (reliable streams etc) but a month by month is a far safer way to go.
