Ok got my nice new shiny chromecast yesterday, so other than the obvious stuff like BBC iPlayer, uTube, Netflix is there anything else I can do with this device? Any hacks, that sort of thing.

TIA

These type of devices are quite new, But the more popular they get the more people will work on things like this.

I am not 100% sure on the architecture used in the chrome cast but believe that the Ezcast is based on linux, with 1ghz processor, so that has the potential to load software onto it.

Will be interesting few months with the chromecast, ezcast etc.

Regards
Mick

Out of interest, how much did you pay for the thing?

I got mine from Dixons (or whatever it's called these days) and paid £30 a couple of weeks ago for it only to be told by my son yesterday, that they've come down in price to just £18.:Mad2:

Amazon was selling them cheap for a few days but back to £30 now

You can use Plex server on your pc and then stream to chromecast. Its not a hack but a good way to stream local content.

Hi m8, I paid £18 on Currys website, delivery was a tad slow over a week from ordering and the box it arrived in was huge, bit overkill that
