Hi lads,

The phone was working fine up until today when it started showing the headset symbol at the top of the screen. The phone seems to think a headset it connected to it when it isn't and when I dial a number there is no sound from the phone unless I press the loud speaker option.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or have come across this problem before?

Sounds like its either got a little water damaged (tiny is enough on these), or if you use a hardwired hands free, you've damaged a pin in the socket.

Use switch cleaner (if you don't then nail varnish remover will do) and cover the plug of the hands free with either solution. Then plug it into the phone and remove it over and over for half a dozen times.

If that doesn't work (sometimes does but not too common) you'll need to take the phone to bits. Two torx screws at the bottom of the handset under the battery cover will need removing. Take the memory card out, the front cover will then snap away from the chassis. Four more torx around the screen will need to be removed. The whole board will then lift away from the chassis. Toothbrush and switch cleaner, IPA, nail varnish remover, etc is now needed to clean the bottom of the board. You will only need to clean up to the level of the highest point of the hands free socket (any higher won't matter, but is pointless).

Make sure the board is dry and then partly re-assemble to see if this has helped.

Cheers m8 will try to reclean the phone as it did come in contact with water a few months ago but has been working fine up until today and as for using a headset I do not have one and have never used one on this phone.

Thanks for all your help m8.
