v8s wont reload firmware !

hi everyone ! my openbox v8s got stuck in load mode , I read up on it and bought the rs232 cable and followed the instructions how to reload the firmware , ive opened the v7v8v8s programme clicked the erom upgrade exe, set the com port ,browsed desktop where I extracted the openbox file opened it ticked the reboot box then plugged the box in after pressing next but it still stays on load mode ! any help is much appreciated guys cheers

You have to use a 'Null Modem' RS232 Cable if your cable is a standard RS323 It will not connect to your V8

the cable I bought was a usb to rs232 male with an adaptor, do you think that's why its not reloading ? is it possible to buy the null modem cable to use with laptop or are they just for pc...thank youfor your info m8 its appreciated..!

yes m8 it did ! ive installed the drivers for windows 8.1 but doesn't connect to the box !

just get the RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable DB9 Female to DB9F RS 232

Prolific PL-2303 HXD chipset USB to serial converter cable, compatible with Windows 8 & Windows 10. Type A male USB to 9 pin male serial connector.
This cable gives you a serial port as would be found on the back of a PC.

You cannot plug this cable directly in to your serial device - you will require a suitable serial printer / serial modem / serial null modem cable to connect the USB to RS-232 cable to your device.

if I bought the female to female null modem cable will that plug straight into a pc tower , because I could do it that way rather than using my laptop ? thanks for all your help m8 its much appreciated

Got the null modem cable tried it on my PC but still nothing happens this is as far as it gets, when I go to cancel it says downloading do you want to abort hellllllppppppppp

check in device manager and see what com port its on 1 ,2,3,4 ect

when you get to that page, switch box off and on.

I do that m8 but nothing happens ! the box comes back on and it still has load on the front, im gonna try check the pin out on this cable see if I been sold a standard seriel cable instead of the null modem , I tried going into device manager on the pc and finding which port it was, made sure it was that port its as if its not finding it ! thanks for your help

hi guys ! just checked the cable and its reading pin 1 to pin 1 pin 2 to pin 2 and so on so I think this cable ive been sold is actualy a serial cable and not the null cable I asked for am I right ! this is probably the reason its not reloading the firmware ! please correct me if im wrong !

In a full Null Modem Cable pins 2-3, 4- 6, and 7-8 should be crossed
