Can you write clearly what you have done so far and what you want to do.
looks like the guy that sold you the box password protected it, the default is usually 6666 , sometimes 8888, but he's probably changed that.
you can reflash the box using rs232 method, however your line details will be wiped when doing this, without the password there is no other way.
My guess is you bought the box as plug n play?

downloaded firmware and progs list
put this on usb stick
tried it on machine all was going well
it loaded on machine I think because it was same firmware as on machine
but it looked like it worked but then asked for four digit code???
as I said I know nothing of these machines...have tried codes still,
no joy not even sure what this machine will do not been on sat for long time
ill health in flat now. was told machine was worth a look.

once default password has been changed whatever it may be it cannot be over ridden, only password reset to default by rs232 flash, or if you wish to try all possible combinations ....
