I got one openboxe s9 out of two working again. But the other one keeps giving a COM Test Error when trying to flash. I know the wire works as I have already flashed another S9, i have also opened the cover and removed and refitted the serial connector pin but I still keep getting this error.

Is this another thing for the bin :Kickassro

the loader program actually emulates another receiver,so theoretically you can use the good receiver to fix the bad.
Maybe try looking into that approach.You may have to press a button on the front panel of the good receiver when powering up.It may take 2 people,one to turn the good receiver on and hold the button and another to turn the defective receiver on.
All this assumes just a corrupt flash and not a hardware problem like a bad power supply.

Thanks Bobby, Ive ordered - lets see what happens :)

I didnt know that the loader does that, You mentioned pressing a button on the working receiver.

I assume the steps are

1) Power On working receiver

2) Quickly press button on working receiver (Which button on front of receiver to Press)

3) At same time Power on On Non-Working Receiver

How would you know when the file is transfered or failed etc, I guess something would show on the front panel of one of the receivers

TIA

P.S Cable already marked for dispatch, maybe ill have something to do over the weekend

actually one of the messages when using the normal loader is synchronizing stb's,which like I said is a throw back to the actual using 2 receivers at the same time.
You would have to press a button on the good receiver and hold it while turning the good receiver on,like the channel up buttons (as just a guess).The manual may even say something about it,I don't remember.

Thanks page 24 of the manual does indeed show you can upgrade by RS232. But for some reason I am unable to see the upgrade by rs232 in the menu of the current firmware, I even tried a different Firmware from 04.04.2011

The manual shows

On old firmware ->Tools -> Upgrade by RS232
Use your working S9 as master receiver.non working will be the slave.
Connect the Serial cable.
-> Select "Upgrade by RS232"
->Press Volume Up/Down key to switch upgrade mode
Options - allcode/maincode/radioback/deaultdb/userdb
->select "allcode"
->Turn on Slave receiver
->Select "Start" on Master Receiver to start upgrade
-Exit when finished

Any idea if this feature was removed from the firmware after a particular date or why I am unable to see it
