I have just updated an openbox S9 with this firmware C2HS2-11-12-13:0481CMT IT HAS 32 FAVOURITES and I have forgotten how to rename the favourites can some one please help it works for openboxes apparently so maybe someone with a s10 can help
The menu brings up Channel Edit:favourites edit: and delete all
Installation which is for satellites and lnb
System setup laguage:tv system:display: local time: timer: parental lock:eek:sd
TOOLS information:factory reset:common interface:CA slot: and usb functions
Media HDD INfo:pVR settings:Media Player

none of these have an option to change the name of the favourites at the moment they are called Favourite 1-25 not very helpful
and by the way this firmware connects to a virginsuperhub with no problems with a network cable

thanks manic01 just lost my mind with trying to edit the channels into favourites for the west midlands got he first fav done but now I can't get into the next fav

I can't get into the next FAV to edit it I am stuck on the one I just renamed

I have tried exiting and everytime I go into channel edit I just end up on the all and entertainment so I am going to give it a rest for now as it is not for me doing it for a friend

Ok this works
menu-channel edit- swelect edit favs-the press the FAV button on remote not blue button.
You can then change the favourite for editing.
You have to do this each time from the start.

Thanks again will try that later

open the full .abs file in alieditor and load the user database when it asks.
Edit the favorite names and when done save as user database.Save again as default database.
Load the full firmware to receiver and do a factory reset. This will make the userdata the same as the default data and your favorites will retain their names.

Thanks manic that worked well just gor confused by the layout of that firmware and because I had used a open box for quite sometime
@slugworth if I now dump the the whole dbs to usb and save as default database then do a factory reset then flash the dbs back will that do the trick

I just tried this slugworth but cannot find a way to edit the favourite names in alieditor 303 open the default database and the favourites are not the ones I dumped open the user database and there are no favs

That is a full dump you grab with alieditor itself via rs232,not the one you save to usb.
There is a difference.

thanks for the explanation my knowledge of the openbox is way out of date things have progressed since I had my first S9 from manufacturer
I am not sure if my windows 7 laptop can connect to the S9 will have to try when I am not watching tv

I keep old pc's around just in case,as a matter of fact my main pc bit the dust a few days ago and I had to revert to an old laptop that has no rs232.
A dump via rs232 is more complete than the usb dump if you compare them with a hex editor.
I did have a targus pa070 port replicator that supplies a com port parallel port ps2 ports via usb that worked with the loader,so some usb to rs232 converters do work with the openbox loader if set up properly.
Once you edit the full dump, you can then copy it to the usb stick and load that way.

I have downloaded the prolific drivers for my usb to serial and dumped the abs file but i still dont seem to be able to edit the fav names with the remote I called them Entertainment ; ect but they are showing in the dumped file as CSAT FRANCE ; ect these must hard coded into the firmware because I cannot change the names with alieditor

I have now found out how to do it select the fav right click on a channel and the drop down menu will give the option to rename group

alieditor right pane you right click and it should come up with a menu for editing the favorite name.
