Openbox PDF detailed setup guide for all you noobs :)

Seems lots of people are blindly buying openboxes and looking for help so I thought I'd start a thread and post the guide I found a while back as I've had a few requests for it recently.

Thanks mate this is great, just one or two questions though:
1> when you first buy an openbox is there firmware ( Image) already on it for you to use if you don't want to put another one on?
2. When setting up a motorised system wouldn't you set up the " Set Motor as DisEqc1.2 on all satellites" not usuals on all satellites?

It will have a factory image on, but newer is better.
Most people use usals now as much easier and better, only select diseqc if manually setting motor.

Ok thanks mate only ever used DisEq1.2 and set each satellite on their own , what does the usuals function do ?

Once motor is set to correct elevation, and dish is set up correct.
You enter usals coordinates, send to say bbc world 1w, then manually move dish up/down and motor around pole untill you have channel ok, then tighten up.
After that all sats are found by them selves.
Thats is a very brief expalnation but it works 100%

Thinking of purchasing a skybox f3 will this guide work for it as I beleive it is part of the openbox range?

As far as I'm aware mate the menus etc are all the same so I assume so there isn't really much to learn with these boxes anyway mate all you need to do is set up your sat, scan services and input your line, all of which can be done through the menus channel lists etc can come once your setup and familiar with the box

yes no problem, as long as both boxes have their own seperate feed from the dish

Good guide the only thing I would like to add is that in the latest openboxes (f3,m3 etc) after menu you have to presss 6666 on the remote to bring up the internet,Cccam settings menu.
