hi guys,

can somoene help me i am in desperate need of unlcoking a Blackberry 8100 pearl for my cousin. Can someone point me to a useful link where I can download a software which will allow me to unlock the blackberry 8100 pearl handset??

Thanks in advanced for yr kind help?

Sorry, but there simply isn't any. Fonefunshop.co.uk can unlock it for you on Thursdays..Direct unlock, or you can buy an unlock code for it which costs around 25 euro.

Honestly, there is deffo no free / cheap way to do this unless its Voda...Contact them and ask them for the code

you should be able to ask o2 for the code, it will cost but as Blarty says you probably wont be able to find it for free any where.

I am perplexed though, whats the point in an unlocked Blackberry?

hi,

Well its currently locked to O2 ...i want to unlock it so that I can use my Three sim card in the phone.

When i currently put an o2 sim in it...the blackberry maps dont work :(...it just comes up white...no maps...how do i get this working? Im not on a contract its pas as u go sim card?

Thanks

Well, that was the point I was making above. Blackberry handsets are very dependant on the services offered by your network. Three dont do a Blackberry right now, so they wont even have that service available. If you are using an o2 sim that doesnt have a Blackberry contract with o2, then you wont be able to reach these services.

Pretty much, all you are going to end up with is a massive, clunky phone with a qwerty keyboard...

hi

right i see but why cant i use a o2 sim card and have that feature if the phone currently accepts o2 anyway...is it beacuse they only provide this to their contract customers....

TBH I am after a Nokia N95 8GB but they are too expensive...i just want a ANY good phone with WLAN and GPS so i can have navigation and surf the net on the handset whilst im on the move?

Blackberries rely on services from the network, as I already said. If you have a PAYG o2 sim card that doesnt mean you will get these services as they probably wont have been set up for that number. Instead you need to contact o2 and try and get them set up for you. Which they probably wont do as you are using a PAYG sim.

as karym6 says..

The problem is that you are using a PAYG O2 sim (at a guess)
You get a wap allowance with this SIM, and no DATA. Tried for ages to fiddle this, but it was a no no.

If you are on a contract sim, them phone O2 and moan. Google maps, etc work fine on O2 contract.

Google maps should work fine over a GPRS connection (which I will assume you have unless you have the Blackberry Bold).

I think you problem lies with the fact that you dont have services provisioned to your sime, as it is PAYG. If you want all the Blackberry stuff, go get a Blackberry from O2...

hi okay i get the picture now thanks for yr help...
