If you are on O2 PAYG then you can claim your free credit by following the instructions below:

)You must have a new sim card, one of the free ones will do. You can then throw this sim away when finished the procedure. (You keep your old/current sim card as the free credit will be added to your current number).

Have a pen and paper ready so you can write the authorisation number down. Also a note to everyone - This Is All Automated So For Those Who Are Phone Shy Do Not Worry, you do not speak to anyone live!! :Hit:

1. Call 5450 from your existing number & handset
2. They give you an authorisation number & let you know how much you'll be due
as credit to your EXISTING number.
3. Put your new (free) sim card into your phone & dial the same number using
this new sim (for free)
4.They will then ask for the authorisation code (given on the original call), your EXISTING
phone number, your name, your postcode & house number.
5. They then confirm the amount to be credited in 14 days & advise that the
NEW/FREE SIM CARD number will be disconnected straight away.

Depending on how long you have been a customer and how much you top up each month you could get up to £200 free credit!!

Yup,

My partner got £21 back and she tops up just £10 a month, sometimes £10 every two months, and she gets that 10% rebate thing every 3 months so it was not too bad, £21 credit for nowt.

My mate did it about 2 months ago and he also got just over £20. If you are a heavy user and do not claim the 10% rebate every 3 months then you will be quids in regarding credit.

Basically what it is is a reward from O2 for staying with them. What they think you have done is purchased a new O2 PAYG phone from a shop with a new sim in the package. They are then rewarding you for staying with O2 and giving you a % back in credit based on how much you have spent on your current O2 sim.

But!! You have not even bought a new phone, all you do is use one of the many free O2 sims you can get off the net and they think it's one from a new PAYG phone package.

I dug out one of my old free SIMS's to try it with.

When you call 5450, a nice lady comes on and says:
"If you are calling from the phone you want to upgrade FROM, press 1" &
"If you are calling from the phone you want to upgrade TO, press 2"

You need to press 1 at this point.
My free bonus was £11, and I was given a 7 digit code to register it with.

I swapped out my SIM and tried to call back choosing option 2 this time, but the SIM showed up as "Inactive" when I put it in.

Bear in mind that this SIM is a couple of years old. I had taken it out of the packet for the first time tonight, but they must delete them after a while.

Oh well, I'll need to get another batch of O2 SIMS :)

Yes mate you will get free credit, it all depends how much you top up each month.

As I say my other half is lucky if she puts on £10 a month, sometimes she misses a month or two and she claims her 10% discount and still got over £21 of free credit using the above system.

Go for it, it's all freeeeeee!!

I missed out big time as my sim died on me about 2 months before I found this out, and I had been an O2 PAYG member on that sim for a few years. I would have got a nice lump of credit!!:puke: But as I say I lost my sim so my new one was pointless trying as I only had it amonth or so. UGH!

Now I am just using all the free credit on Vodafone and Virgin free sims you get off the net, I reckon I change my number 3 times a month, lol. My mates hate me for it.

I can get £39 but im not sure what i need to do next I have a spare O2 Sim card.

Whats next?. In idiot terms please :(

Not 100% sure as I have not done it myself, I am not on O2 and my partner is in bed at so can't ask her.

Have you got your code? If so just put in your new sim and follow the instructions, I think this time you may have to press option 2 and enter the code.

Thanks pal . I was a bit worried about this incase i lost my old number but after going through the options it confirmed that the credit would be added to my original sim and i keep my old number

I got £49 this is the mutts nuts thanks again pal

if I understand from this thread anyone getting a £100 plus credit must be spending a phenomenal amount on PAYG, my advice take the credit and find yourself a monthly tariff with mins & text, it should work out cheaper for you

Hello mate,

I would not say that is 100% true. I am not sure as to what exactly they base the amount of reward on.

It could be based on the length of time you have had the number combined with an equation as to how much you top up each month.

If someone has had their O2 PAYG sim for 5 years and never claimed their 10% back and top up just £10/£20 a month then I may well say they could get a healthy amount back.

If someone tops up £30 a month they too could get a decent amount back even if they have just had the number for less than a year.

As I say do not hold me to this as I have not looked into how they base their rewards.

Most people I know have received around the £20 mark, these people are lucky if they put on £10 a month, but they also claim their 10% back which I am to believe affects the amount you receive.

i got £16 my next door neighbour put £240 in her PAYG fone last month so i'll report back telling you wot she gets back :)

Cheers

I understand mate but anyone claiming that sort of cash should seriously look into a monthly deal

I can top up up to £30 a month but my employer pays for at least half of that, I get 300 minutes off peak to landlines and other o2 numbers,100 minutes to 02 and landlines peak all for free.

I also get 50 minutes of calls for £7.99 a month and 25 extra free minutes for the next 3 months.

Not a bad deal really and im not tied to a contract.

And my old Nokia 6280 which just keeps on going so it suits me ;).

The Nokia 62 series are rather special. I am still using a long old 6230, the original one. Have had various phones after but I always kept my 6230 and am now using it (AGAIN) as my one and only phone.

Rock solid they are!!! Although to be honest I have no idea what phone your usng, I just noticed it was a 62 series, lol, which could mean a completely different status compared to my old phone.
