Hi There,

Please forgive me, as no doubt this has been asked before, but i've become really confused and just need a point in the right direction.

I have recently purchased a Wii for my sons and i have successfully put the Home Brew on it and the home brew browser using letter bomb, it is version 4.3e.

Since then for the past 2 days solid, i have been researching and trying to find out what i need to do next to be able play back up discs.

I've read so much that it's all kind of blurring into one now, I have so far downloaded but not been successful in intalling onto the consol. Wad manager, Dark Corp, Negamma R8, been putting them all on my SD card but they don't show up on my SD card. (SDHC 4gig)

So i figured i would ask, I am prepared to carry on researching, but i would really appreciate if someone could just point me in the right direction of what i need to instal and maybe any simple guides to do it.

As i said all i would like to do is play back up discs that i have on my computer already in .iso format that i intent to burn to disc using IMG burn.

Many Thanks for any help in advance

Mark

Not all Wii's can play discs owing to the dvd readers installed.

You are better off abandoning the disc idea and using a hard drive/flash drive option. They don't scratch!

Hi and thanks,

the reason i wanted to start with the discs is that i am able to burn etc and have a little knowledge of how to make back ups.

Could you point me in the right direction of how/what i would need to do in order to use the hard drive option?

Thanks

hi m8,

follow MOAMB's tut for softmodding the wii, just folow it from after the homebrew channel bit and use a non sdhc sd card.

then follow bro's tut on config usb loader.

using backup disks isnt that great tbh, the wii can only read the dvd backups at roughly half the speed of the normal disks
this means you get "loading" messages during gameplay on certain games.
also your drive is constantly stopping and starting. can't be very good for the drive lol

Buzzer,

Thank you very much, I'm going to pop out and get a new SD card now and start afresh with the guides you have suggested

Many Thanks

Buzzer

I can't believe i actually did it!

I started again, I brought a new 2 gig standard SD card.

Re installed letterbomb, installed bootmii (which i missed before) and done a Nand? back up.

Then i installed the "modpackanywii"

And this loaded the USB loader and a disc loader and believe it or not a backed up disc worked, the boy is now playing a back up of Mario Kart on disc.

Thanks for all your help, I am going to read a bit more about getting a external HD as i think this will be easier in future

Thanks Again

External drive definately the way to go, there are some guides on here - if I can do it, anyone can tbh!

Nice to hear you got there. Just make sure you apply the priiloader protections. It is recommended by all guides. I think they should rephrase it to a MUST. Many people forget to prevent disc and online updates. Back up your nand to CD too!

When you get the HDD, use the fat32 system and not wbfs.

Soon your kids will be watching movies on the wii too!

hi guys letterboman worked a treat for me altho i cant get call of duty black ops working. i know i had to install a separate wad file on my boys for that but my pals wii was on 4.3 and used the letterbomb and selected no to download the updates ios's as it recommended 4.3 had all the latest ones. do i still need that extra wad like before and how can i use the disc channel if i dont have darkcorp installed? when i put a disc in it shows the game on the disc channel and when i try to load it . its says an error has occurred, i got the usb loader working but my mates not got a hard drive yet so he is hoping to be using discs until he gets 1
