can anyone help ,my mate tried to softmod his wii with the darkcorp mod, he didnt get very far (or back his nand) now the wii wont boot up,nothing shows on the screen the power light comes on but thats it , is there any way to restore it back, thanks.

Has he had any sort of softmod on there previously, so that bootmii has hopefully been installed, or is it a 'virgin' install

Try turning on the wii and holding down the 'reset' button, if bootmii comes up your in luck

I've bricked ours in the past while playing with wads but luckily had already softmodded it previously so managed to get bootmii to run and 'just' reinstalled the wads using wadmanager as I had corrupted the system menu by accident

Be aware that some mods are designed to work on very specific firmware, so that may have been where he went wrong if he tried to install on an eralier firmware

Just come across an issue with darkcorp 1.1 the first release, download the full installer. Apparently there was an 'issue' with the installer

Not that this may help your friend and his wii though ......

If it doesnt boot at all, its likely you would need the nand reflashing.

PM me the serial number and i can tell you if this is possible without the nand backup.

unfortunately based on your serial number its unlikely you will be able to repair this.

ok thanks for the replys,
deserves my mate right for not being patient and reading the tutorials .

If its under warrenty or he has the receipt, take it back (if possible) and claim that he updated it as the blue-light was flashing saying there was an update it now won't turn on

They know it happens, but obviously won't freely admit that it can and does go wrong when updating via 'official' methods. NEVER mention that you attempted any sort of sotmod and they will send it off for a new board as thats about all can be done if its a 100% brick

Thats why is vital people read the tutorials and take VERY careful note of anything that mentions serial number or taking certain steps. Sometimes it seems you are repeating things multiple times for no obviouls reason, BUT there is a reason behind it

always take a nand backup as soon as you possibly can.

Even with wiis that dont support bootmii as boot2, you can still get it unbricked by someone like me.
