Hi guys
Im trying to install a softmod on a 4.1E virgin wii and Ive run into a bit of a problem. I started to use this guide I got from here..

https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/index.php?threads/223480/

And in the readme it states that If i have anything lower than 4.2e I should skip to step 6

QUote

Step 4: (This is for 4.2 Only, if you are under 4.2 skip to step 6)

Unrar 2 to your SD Card overwriting anything it asks.
Now you will see a HBC icon on your channels page when your Wii restarts.
Click it and once loaded it will display a bunch of apps.
The first thing we want to do is press "HOME" on the Wii remote and choose BootMii.
You should now be in Wad Manager after about 5-10 seconds or so.

Step 5:

You will be prompted to select which IOS to use, just leave this and press A.
You will now be able to select SD Card, so do that.
Now you'll see 4 .wad files, select each one (one at a time) and choose "Uninstall"
After all 4 have Uninstalled you can exit Wad Manager by restarting the Wii.

Step 6:

Unrar 3 to your SD Card overwriting any files.
Put the SD Card back into the Wii.
Start HBC again, press "HOME" and choose BootMii.
After around 5-10 seconds or so you will be loaded into CIOSrev14 Installer.
When prompted to change the IOS, select "Do not reload IOS"
Then choose WAD install and press A.
You now have CIOSrev 14 and are able to run backups.

Now Im running 4.1e as I stated but I run into a snag at step 6 because it states that the something should run after 10-15 seconds on the bootmii menu which it doesnt it just hangs and does nothing. Could someone please point me out where Im going wrong or should I just dump this softmod and update to 4.2e and try this walkthrough instead?? the one that seems a litte bit more thurer..

Any advice would be most appreciated guys thanks..

Personally I would update to 4.2e and start the same method again. Backup your nand after step 3 though and get hold of preloader and install that also

I will have a bash that way then mark I have already made a backup of my nand its the first thing I did when I got the chance. Do I hunt down the 4.2e update via the web or is it still available as system update?

Im fooked I get to the last part where to install neogamma and when I select IOS249 the system just locks up and hangs I have to remove the power cable to retart the system.
What a pain in the arse. lol

sounds to me that you never removed the wads properly this is a really important step remvoing wads as if you dont remove the 4 wads it either hangs or you get error 1102 or similar trust took a while for me to get my head round it at first but hey keep at it. update to 4.2e had a few wii`s hang on me due to failed updating says its 4.2e but it has problems update 3 -4 times and the wii will fly through it is a very easy hack with 4.2 using the guide u are using good luck wattsy1612

i think you can only use -r dvds or bookset +r to -r in image burn? might be something to do with it .

Thanks m8 I will try again with that setting on imgburn, I think I got some +r dvdr the datawrite ones so that could be it.

nope its not dvd-r thats the problem, Im downloading couple of other pal games which worked on my daugters boyfriends wii so I will see how they go, I wonder if I attach a USB cable to the wii which is connected to my pc will that load isos off me PC hard drive?? Windows 7 is the os NTFS file system, does a usb drive have to be formatted to fat32 in order for it to work?

you will need a usb hdd formatted with wbfs file system and a program called wbfs manager to transfer the iso files to it.

open control panel in windows. Go to administrative tools and then storage and create a RAW partition. Then download wbfs manager and format the drive with the wbfs filesystem and transfer ya files. Bingo!

not true you can use config usbloader and a fat32 hardrive you just need a folder called wbfs on the drive and a program to convert ISO's like wii backup manager or wbfs_file2 the loader will convert your game disks to fit on the hdd
