Guys I was just wondering about what is the best media to get for backups? I am used to using Taiyo Yuden +r for films, would they be OK for Wii backups? What about dual layer disks what is the best brand for them?

p.s.
Do NTSC backup games work in PAL chipped Wii? Is it only the update you have to worry about in case of a brick?

I have been reading up but am n00b with Wii scene

Cheers

Ritek G05 dye disks are the best.

Some NTSC games will work in PAL boxes but as you said you've got to be careful about the updates.

Ive just had some Risdisc Xtreme +R's delivered, aswell as some Ridisc Lightscribe -R's. I'll get to try them tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

been using Aone DVD-R FFP's, used to use verbs but these seem to work fine 12/12 no coasters, just burn at x4 with ImgBurn.

I got my Wii for Xmas for the kids, and fitted a WiiKey2.

I have been writing games no problems to +r disks, no band in particular. I usually have 100 disk tubs, but due to not having many left I decided to impulse buy just so that I can burn them.

So far I have tried at 4X

ASDA DVD+r - No problem
Woolworths DVD+r (I know ... but they were cheap LOL) - No problem
Datasafe DVD+r - No problem

All media was rated at 8x, and I have burned over 40 disks without a failure.
Im using a DVD RAM GSA-H55N drive bought for £16.

After reading here I think I will bulk buy the ritek media, but at this point in time I have no issues with the above.

I got some Ridisc Extreme 16x +R, they seem to work very well. I also tried some old unbranded ones and I didn't seem to have any problems either, think you'd have to be using some pretty poor media to experience any problems

RITEK for single layer and ur flying ;)

so is what's the best to use then + or - ??

I have tried burning with +dvd's and they don't work for me.

I just read elsewhere that if you are burning on a +dvd then you need to set the booktype on your drive to burn a DVD-ROM.

In imgburn, it's the little book icon near the bottom right. Click that, select your bunrer drive make, and then DVD+ from the drop down and then change it to default to DVD-ROM in the other drop down...

Let me know if anyone else has success with +DVD's with the softmod. I'm not sure if it's my media or softmod install (please are talking about wrong ISO things installed and WAD installs which I don't understand yet) !!!

I had a few issues using +r so now I use Bulkpaq 16x DVD-R full face printables, used 200 so far, not one coaster. Only problem is that I am having probs getting hold of them, so I may be looking for a new brand myself soon.

Regards

Tony
