Just letting everyone know that for £20 quid you can get a guaranteed way to play back up ROMs and DS Homebrew along with movies and MP3s from of all places Argos! The ROM compatibility is nowhere near as high as with an M3 or R4 but that Argos guarantee does sweeten the deal. You do need some extra software to get the ROMs to play but you won't invalidate your guarantee or anything like that. If any wants one this is the link:

If you want some help getting ROMs to play please feel free to PM me!

I trust they mis-spelt MB as Mb? As I thought MB = MegaBytes whereas Mb = Megabits? They state "256Mb of cartridge memory allows you store up to 30 games." Small games, lol.

lol, that's mad.

Can you post details of what is needed to get it to run downloaded commercial roms?

I can't believe that Argos or any high street retailer is allowed to sell these pieces of kit!

I can't believe that Argos or any high street retailer is allowed to sell these pieces of kit!

In this country you can buy anything seems illegal but its only illegal to use it lol... like our dboxes you can get them imported from germany no problem... you can flash the image no problem... but you can't plug it in to the cc's socket.

Like or blackcats, max232, they are not illegal unless they are used for illegal purposes.

Too noob to PM, so what's the method to use this to it's full potential?

TIA

can anyone actualy tell me does this stick out from ds lite or is it flush!!!!

or has anyone got 1 ?

The argos one is as flat as a pancake, and only a single card arrangement in the DS Slot. Comes complete wit 256mb micro sd card, which can be upgraded to 2gb. It doesn't mke it clear in the argos ad that it is a card, and not a fixed amount.

It also comes with a usb card reader, and a cd with some homebrew games and a video convertor on it.

Just got one this afternoon.

I have DSorganizer running on it, by using the dldi patcher following the video on youtube.

I am getting stuck getting commercial roms to work though. :(

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

Cheers

For Commercial ROMs you'll need to boot them using a homebrew called Max Overload and the accompanying Patcher software. I'll add them as an ad attachement after this post to save you looking for them.

Copy the .nds backup rom to the games directory on the memorycard and then run Patch.exe, point it at the backup roms and hey Presto Bob is your mother's brother so to speak. After that copy Max_Overload_1_2.nds to the root directory of your memory card, turn on your DS, click Max_Overload and play that backup rom goodness.

If anyone is interested I could do a full tutorial with working ROM list. Let me know!

And remember... to play backups you need to own the original...

Thanks for that,

I've just tried it, and when I run a .nds throughthe patcher I get errors

Then when I try to run max overload on the ds, it runs, but the displays the message

HDD / CF not found!

Have I missed something?

Thanks Tiggzz :)

What ROM is it you're trying to patch? If it won't patch ARM 7 there is a workaround but I'd have to know the ROM first lol

I was just trying to start off with something nice and easy????yeah right. Big Brain Academy to begin with :)

I've just tried brain training also, this time it erros with arm 7 v2 but is ok with arm 7 v1

The error I get is when I first run Max, the blue screens come on and then on the bottom screen I get the error of no Hdd or CF found.

I'm just wondering if I'd been better off with a R4. :(

Thanks for your help here. I just don't want to give up on this.

Tiggzz :)

I get the same error, I have tried Space Invaders DS and when I run Max Overload, I also get the HDD/CF not found.

has anyone got one of these to work yet as i am tempted to go and get one !!!!

For the guy who mentioned Space Invaders try redownloading the rom from your romsite or using a different ROM version. For some unknown reason a couple of these will only work on certain regions version of the ROMs :S
