Windows 10 vs. HP laser printers

I have an hp p1102w laser printer that for some reason won't pick up with windows 10. it's bad enough following the instructions to install it took hours on windows 7, but to finally get it working on 7 and then not be able to print on my 10 laptop despite it being set up to the letter of the instructions, and the printer showing up on the devices as ready is getting old. any ideas?

ok i'd start by uninstalling any software / drivers that were on your laptop when it was windows 7. unplug the printer from the PC and then download and install the drivers from here.

this seems to be HP's windows 10 software for your printer, follow any instructions it gives on installing the printer and post back if its fixed or not.
