Gents, looking at getting this Pi 2 for internet streaming etc.

I currently have an ATV2 running Kodi and I am beginning to notice some performance issues.

Would the new Pi based on its specs perform better than that ATV?

depending on budget i would go for the fire tv . the new pi would be little better than the apple tv but for the 80 quid the fire tv is a easy to use package
and the remote is better then the apple tvs

Ah sqwaulocks! I only bought a B+ a couple of weeks ago to run raspbmc in the lounge :(

What sort of performance issues, playing back video or general usage ? AFAIK ATV2 should be able to playback 1080p video.

In terms of general speed, on paper the Pi2 should be quicker than ATV2 which uses a single core 1GHz Cortex A8 vs 900MHz quad core Cortex A7. The Pi 2 also has 1GB RAM vs 256MB in ATV2.

I seem to he getting buffering and blockiness when using XBMC/Kodi when streaming from my own network (hardwired to the router/media server) and when using Sportsdevil streams.

that may be better with Pi, especially as XBMC has optimised Pi drivers. The new Pi one has a different GPU so it may be a little while we see an optimised version for Pi 2
