Best Browser ?

in my office everyones pc uses windows xp pro and rarely have problems, windows will cease support in april for windows xp though . I have windows 7 on my home laptops and i like that. Cant get used to windows 8 as dont like the no start menu and cant get the 8.1 upgrade as it says my screen resolution isnt big enough and drop down menu hasnt got a bigger one :( .. always used to use firefox browser but used google chrome for a while now and rarely have problems with it.

Imho Chrome is shite and buggy as hell and IE is as Him Her has stated just bloatware that every desktop/laptop could do without.

I personally use Firefox or Opera, but recently FF has been prone to a LOT of random crashes so may be looing toward Opera more or getting Netscape.

But Firefox is probably the better one out there if you dont mind the odd crash :)

I.ve got to say that if I still had a working copy of XP Pro I would be tempted to go back to that, but as you say support ceases in April and I would still get all the annoying crap advising me about that and telling me to update.
Still not changed yet but it is looking more and more like I'll go down the Windows 7 and FireFox route.

be no different to turning annoying updates off so hopefully the xp pro will still be fine :)

When you do load Win 7, try to find the "European" version. It doesn't have IE built in, so you don't get IE update nagging about something you don't want anyway.
Asaik updating still works normally, without IE. If you use the standard MS version (I did) you get stuck with IE, not easily removed. It can be done, but by the time
you realize how annoying IE and it's updates are, you are so committed (loading apps, personal docs etc) you are reluctant to meddle too much.
Worth a look before you start, wish I had.:)

Yip same as above, up to recently I'd have said Chrome but I'm reluctant to recommend it now. The fact that it auto-updates is a big negative too, they implement iffy improvements & you have to accept them (or go looking for workarounds). Thinking of going back to Firefox myself.

Had persevered with Chrome till early this week when it started 'hanging'. I could open up another browser & surf while Chrome was still hung, not sure if one of those auto-updates had screwed up on my machine for Chrome. Started using Safari & very impressed so far. Previously if I was streaming video on Chrome the fan would be running full pelt but on Safari barely a peep. Gonna give Safari an extended tryout.

Export them to an html file first in Chrome then Safari should be able to import the file - I know, different HH ;)

Ihave an xml file but cannot find import in the bookmarks menu

As @Him Her says mate, open Chrome then in the Menu go Bookmarks --> Bookmark Manager. Drop-down arrow Organize choose Export Bookmarks to HTML file.
In Safari, Show Menu Bar then go File --> Import Bookmarks & choose the file you saved. Worked fine for me @edogg

Up until about a year ago Chrome used the WebKit engine, same as Safari, but then it forked off to Blink (no sniggers), apart from iOS versions which stuck with WebKit

I am a chrome user, but a good alternative to Chrome i think is Maxthon. Has browsers for PC, and smart phones, and like chrome syncs bookmarks etc to all devices you use with it. has some good extensions and is very fast too, worth a look if you don't like Chrome

I've just tried Maxthon for a couple of days and I really like it. It's not that I dislike Chrome, it's fine. I just don't like the thought that Google's prying chips are potentially watching my every move.
