Hi all
I bought a Samsung 7 series with Windows 8 installed, I have struggled to download files from forums, movies etc.: I have now been told that built into Windows 8 is a 'reporting to Microsoft' system.
For those reasons I want to get rid of windows 8 install windows 7. are there any stickies on site to explain how its done please.
Regards

Easy to upgrade not so easy to downgrade I am afraid, just back up your media on a usb pen or some sort of external hard-drive and do a fresh install of windows 7.

Reboot your computer and press F2 or F12 etc, what ever gets you into your boot manager, select boot from CD if you have a windows 7 disk or select boot from usb if you want to put a windows 7 ISO on a bootable usb pen.

There is stickies in the PC section on where to download all flavours of windows 7 and make a usb bootable pen , because your running W8, I would recommend W7 Ultimate, and you can use a crack to activate it like Daz Loader. ( PM if you cant find it )

Here is a video of how to Install a new OS, it should keep you on track

check your drivers on samsung web site first to check there are win 7 drivers, and download them prior to any zapping of existing system of your pc, as time goes on some devices will never have xp/win7 drivers etc its as well to check putting win 7 on is a viable option.

You shouldn't listen to hearsay and gossip. The actual issue is the smartscreen, it means that IF they wanted to M$ could retain executable information and tie this to an IP of the requests, but they would need to estimate the software and where/who you are. It's a longstanding feature and has been in place since IE8. Even so it would take a lot of work to tie the file name and it's hash(cryptographic pattern), and MS is highly unlikely to have a Program>hash map.

It's not really a reason not to use it, just turn off the smartscreen filter. It's a bloody nuisance anyway.
