Anyone remember Defender from the 80's?

My favourite all time game although i was crap on it (get to wave 4), although in them days, i never had any cash so didn't play it much.

I've seen people doing 35 waves and it is a joy to watch (loosing the planet, regaining it) one of the fastest games ever.

Were any of you any good on it? (how many waves?)

yep i remember defender, great game.

along with missile command and frogger :proud:

Many a night I would spend in the local chippy filling the Defender machine with my 10p's, in the early 80's I was either found standing in the chippy with my mates playing Defender or sitting in my mates house watching video 'nasties'.

lol

@ Buzzer, Megazone was a mediocre shoot 'em up, Gorf was much better IMO. :)

Missile command was that game with a ball (like an upside down mouse) that you moved with your palm, i used to jam my fcuking hand in it. lol

Witchy this is uncanny, i think we must be blood brothers or something. lol

How many waves could you do?

P.S. i remember Gorf, my brother thought he was great on it because he completed it once. lol

I remember Defender although I can't remember what wave I reached, too long ago. Defender was one of the machines at our local arcade just a couple minutes walk from school. So many break and lunch times was spent there, although the older kids hardly left us younger bunch a chance to play. An excellent version was released for the BBC micro so my homework took a hit, but I saved plenty of 10p coins and bought Gob stoppers instead. As for Video nasties, well I still catch myself occasionally checking under my bed before I go to sleep.

I have the ROM "defender" for MAME if any good for you. I know its an old post but its an old game.

Defender was good. The mame versions is very good also. All mame games are supposed to be ripped from the arcade motherboards, so it should be like the original.

Here's megazone for mame.

This was one of my favourites, I used to play it on the ps2 with Midway Arcade Treasures, its got Defender 1 & 2 on it, also available for Xbox 360 & PC.
Might be worth shopping around inc 2nd user games.

It's nice to see another megazone fan...its quite an underrated, quite challenging, and rarely found game. By coincidence, I currently hold the MAME world record on MegaZone (Twin Galaxies).
