Virgin Media has told 800,000 customers to change their passwords to protect against being hacked.

An investigation by Which? found that hackers could access the provider's Super Hub 2 router, allowing access to users' smart appliances.

A child's toy and domestic CCTV cameras were among the vulnerable devices.

Virgin Media said the risk was small but advised customers using default network and router passwords to update them immediately

the superhub 2 you need both password and the code of bottom of the router, once you change the password it don't ask for a code.

It's the password to log you into the admin side of the router. You must have used it to get into the settings to setup your wifi password. :)

Not sure if there are different versions of Superhub 2, but the bottom of the two I had before got the SuperHub 3 is as pictured. You were prompted to change it as soon as you access it.

It's surprising how many people forget to change their router password after they set up their router for the first time. the router password and wifi password are 2 different passwords. Some people think that setting a wifi password is enough, but it clearly isn't. Details on how to access your router through your web browser are found on the sticker on either the side or base of your router. once logged in click on superb settings, enter the existing password printed on the sticker along with your new password and re-enter the new passwords a second time before you click on save password. Keep it somewhere safe, so should you need access to the router settings again you're not locked out.

It has now been reported that this is not just affecting virgin media super hub2 routers.

Router hack risk 'not limited to Virgin Media' - BBC News

I change my password often on my router.
Very hard to get locked out from router as once you you connect to router you can always log in again or use hard wied connection to router.
Worst case.... Just reset modem with pin at the back.
