Peugeot to buy out Vauxhall motors

Hopefully Peugeot will do what Ford did with Jaguar. They took the best of both companies and really combined them. Jaguar design is easily seen in the new ford focus. It's a great looking car in my opinion. I think Jaguar electronis have gotten a big knowledge transfer from Ford. These mergers can be wins for the consumer. Peugeot could use the help.

The only Vauxhall car made in Britain is the Astra which is assembled in Ellesmere Port, I said assembled because that is about all that happens in most cars plants in Britain with parts for assembly being shipped in from all corners of the world.
There is also a Vauxhall van assembly plant in Luton, which assembles all of the low roof Vivaros, which are also badged as Opel Vivaro, Nissan Primastar and Renault Trafic. Therein lies a problem.........Peugeot and Citroen which are part of the group buying out Opel/Vauxhall are Renault's rivals which doesn't bode well for the Luton plant, especially as the high topped vans are made by Renault in the old Nissan plant in Barcelona and it does not run at full capacity.
The complicity of vehicle manufacture is shown up here by the fact that not a single Renault van is assembled in France.
