Tesco pulls products in 'Brexit' price row

Tesco and Unilever end price dispute Issues surrounding the supply of leading brands including Marmite to Tesco have now been resolved, Unilever has said.

The supermarket giant and the UK's largest food manufacturer had been locked in a battle over wholesale prices.

Unilever had wanted to raise its prices by about 10% to compensate for the steep drop in the value of the pound.

But Unilever had to give some ground, the BBC understands.

Brands including Hellmann's Mayonnaise had been removed from Tesco's website.

"Unilever is pleased to confirm that the supply situation with Tesco in the UK and Ireland has now been successfully resolved," Unilever said.

"We have been working together closely to reach this resolution and ensure our much-loved brands are once again fully available. For all those that missed us, thanks for all the love."

If big brands want to try that, we should all then not buy those said products. Plenty of other mayonnaise, comfort softener out there. Cheaper too!

Sadly, what many people dont' realise is that they are made in the same plants, so if the reference is to many other 'own brands' you can bet your bottom dollar, they are sourced and provided by the same company.

The supermarket 'own brands' are just the same as the big name brands, just have a different type of label.

There is only one type of mayonnaise for me and that's Hellmann's. No other brand inc. the supermarket own brands come close. They may be made in the same factory but hey are definitely not made with the same recipe!

Actually, for the most part if you pick up Tesco Mayo and Hellmans Mayo, the recipe in the context of ingredients etc is the same, the difference is 'where the ingredient is sourced, its quality and %)

I used to work for Unilever under the John West Brand many moons ago, and as far as quality goes' this is where your money is saved, it may taste better (in some cases) with own brand, but its an offset.
