Troubled former West Ham striker Savio Nsereko has gone missing for a second time in the past 12 months, his Italian club have announced.

The Uganda-born former Germany youth international, 22, has not been seen for nine days, with his family and agent unaware of his location.

Savio - who cost £9 million when he joined West Ham in 2009 - is currently on loan at Serie B side Juve Stabia from Italian giants Fiorentina, who he joined after that very brief spell in England.

Juve Stabia sporting director Salvatore Di Somma said: 'The player's mother lodged a complaint with Interpol and the police have released a photo of him to try to find him soon. Currently there is still no trace of the player and his family, close friends or police know where he is or what has happen.

"I am sorry above all for the human impact of this affair and naturally hope he can be found as quickly as possible."

Last time Savio went AWOL, in October of last year, he was found a week later at his sister’s apartment. His loan contract with 1860 Munich, who he played for as a youth, was rescinded.

It appears that Juve Stabia will follow 1860’s route.

"We take note of his behaviour, by virtue of which we have come to the conclusion that he cannot be part of our family," the club said in an official statement.

Savio - who failed to score in 10 matches for West Ham and whose signing blighted the reputation of former Hammers sporting director Gianluca Nani - has reportedly suffered from psychological problems in the past.

Since his failed stint in East London, he has been loaned by Fiorentina to clubs in Bulgaria, Italy and Germany
