I am thinking of trying to use an old pc as a cctv box Linux & ispy seems to be a good start unless anyone has some other ideas that may work better it seems ispy is not to hardware power hungry to spend a lot on upgrades don't make sense I may as well buy a dedicated box as do that any suggestions thanks

I use ispy , l have 3 cameras at work and my pc at home is on 24-7 and camera links to iphone too , great app works very well

U Could run this on any pc , its small and uses little memory

i see wot u mean Smirnoff that's not an awful lot of resources have you got any camera preferences opinions seem to vary wildly I am thinking one with moveable facilities the rest with static thanks

the moving ones are poor m8 l have one and had to replace and used fitted one , l got out door ones in case l wanted move at anytime

are that will mean another camera if I use fixed but not the end of the world I take it you use wireless ones like the piccy that's wot I was thinking an old pc an old router plus some wireless cameras as I don't need to monitor anything remote from my property

wifi ones come with both m8

heres my ispy no need to register

I use a old IBM thinkcentre s51 i think its a p4 3.2Ghz with 2g ram and a 80G HDD for system and a 500G drive for recording i have 3 cameras and it works fine. i use go1984 software (costs a fortune to buy but is freely available in many places ;-) ) you can download the pukka software from their site but its time limited but give folk and idea if its what they need, it has easy interface to setup and run, it has a huge data base of cameras already configed.

however most importantly i think it has the easiest and best interface for the retreval and monitoring of recorded images.

hi hatab yes I will have a look at go1984 I was planning to try a few but its always good to listen to recommendations from others as it often throws light on any plus's or minus's before a project is started many thanks

go1984 cracked , never used open at your own risk
antivirus will show keygen as a virus , thats normal so would have to turn off
