Hey folks,
looking for some guidance ,I was asked to fix an MX box (gbox clone i think) it's got no version of android on it and runs XBMC from boot up from xunitytalk .(sorry I'm a real novice) nothing will work for me, none of the repos will update I've checked and triple checked and then checked some more the address Index of / still nothing, I've also tried fusion and nothing. I keep getting the same message " this addon does not have the correct structure" ,or words to that effect. Any help at all would be greatly accepted .

thanks in advance

dave

Have you manually tried to install a addon from a usb stick
Do you get the launcher screen when you press the home button?

Hi F,
no I haven't tried to install an addon from a USB stick, but I did unsuccessfully try and reflash xbmc via USB, from what I've read I needed to create a bootable USB stick i think I did that part correctly but it didn't work for me. As for pressing the home button I'm not presently in a position to check but from what I can remember no it doesn't .

Thanks so much for your interest .

Dave.

edit: I've just checked the home button and actually yes it does bring me back to the main launcher home screen from within an addon, also just to say it also falls off the network (wired or wireless) once the box is switched off, shut down or reboot (every time). And any changes made to the launcher be it enable, disable or even uninstall an addon are restored when the box is switched back on (every time)????

So if you press home and go to launcher then apps then settings the apps then hi lite xbmc on the right can you unistall xbmc and does it re appear after a reboot

Hi F,
sorry I must not have fully understood your question about launcher, this mx box has NO android on it, so I can't access any of that. When I power up the box it boots up with XBMC (looks like frodo 12.2 badge) not the conventional android 4.4.2 launcher.
Hope this makes my problem a little clearer, also not sure if it means anything but I think it was built by someone called 'FOXORBOXOR' .

thanks again

DAVE.

@Davey1978 is this link of any use HERE. I don't have the gbox but it seems to be a restore vid.

Hi S,
Thanks a lot for that, looks like it could have been a great fix but unfortunately both Dropbox folders supplied were empty. So I'm back to square 1 .
any other ideas ?

thanks

Dave.

If its a mx2 box you could try flashing it again using this procedure
use a sdcard larger than 4gb
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

Thanks again @Fergalsworld, seem to have learnt a little from the link posted by @sneaker and although the Dropbox folders were empty It did teach me how to access a menu I was previously unable to and 'restore to factory defaults'. I still can't do what I want to with the box like install fusion (it's what I'm comfortable with ...for now) as it seams to be locked to someone called "Team Ghost" or "Foxorboxor" . But as I said before this fix was for a friend and although I've learnt a lot I've also spent a lot of time on it so for now I'm happy to say the phrase 'once it works' .

@Fergalsworld, I'm intrigued now about your post above including a link to a how to guide to reflash an MX Box, I might just try it later......on my own box that is.

thanks again
