Hi I have got a dreambox DM800HD

Last night i was watching tv and all of a sudden it froze on the channel that i was watching and said tune failed and i couldn't get it to show any channels at all

I tried it earlier today and i could get BBC 1 for all of 5 - 10 seconds and then it went to tune failed

I have tried again tonight and then restored it to the base image that i have got that i know worked but still nothing

I have tried doing an scan and i it does pick up some channels but not all of them mostly channel 4 and E4
The Sat - SNR is showing as 43%

I have got a I have tested it with a freesat box and that is able to pick up all the channels but the dream box can't

Anyone any idea's what i need to do seen as its ok on the freesat box ?

This is the tuner that i have got in the dream box
BSBE2-801A

Thanks in advance

Based on you testing using teh same cabling/dish/lnb, your two probable issues are:

PSU not providing enough power to tuner. Test with another 12V PSU, minimum 2 amps.
Tuner faulty. Test with another tuner.

The snr of 43% is low but should lock id start by realigning that dish.

Are you just running a fixed dish no switches or motors involved ?

Yes just running a normal sized sky dish not sure of the exact size but is what sky installed

I have noticed that when i am changing the channel the screen on the front of the box is going very dim and flickering

I have ordered a new power supply for now

Last resort for me is to realine the dish as it is on a 3 story building and it is right on the top so not easy to get to it would proberbly be a case of get a new dish and start again

If i was to get a new dish would a motorised dish be worth it ?

A motorised dish is always worth it, check what size you are allowed in your area and go with the biggest they permit.

Speak with your local council or planning regs.

For buildings up to 15 metres high, it appears we're allowed dishes no larger than I metre in any dimension. I would just love to replace my TD110 with something larger but it would seem it's just ain't going to happen. (The wife would scupper those plans anyway lol)

I just don't know why I would not be permitted to have a ground based dish of say 1.5m which would be out of sight of the neighbours. But am I correct in assuming that if you speak to your local council then they might look favourably on your application for something larger ie a decision on a case by case scenario?

I had a 1.8 meter dish many years ago at ground level on a grassed area and i painted it green with the top edge painted a brown to match the fence, neighbours never noticed it till they were actually in the garden. No more unsightly then those green tables and parasol things anyway :proud:

yip

did same here only in a 1 metre dish

I doubt it is the dish as the Freesat receiver works fine. Anyway, if you get the motorised dish, add it to the setup instead of replacing the 28.2 one.

in de55 area here and have a i meter dish up wich is the max north east derbyshire council allow without permission but i am going up to a 1.2 very soon but not asking em for permission
