Good news! The new server with the new host should be ready in about 6 hours and I figured out how to pull remote backup from AWS so instead of uploading from local (which takes 2 days) can pull over to new server in less than 2 hrs. Looks like we might be back up late today.

looks like they didnt have a backup after all

seems like GD are suffering from this every 2 weeks, lets hope they can sort them selves out soon ;)

Town.ag does the trick for me although once singed up you have to turn the language to English in the forum settings. Also there is a slight delay with the things you may want . Reliability is key though .

yes you are right about reliability , I do belong to another site that satisfies my craving for d/l stuff ( got to justify having 150 meg lol ;) ) but I do like GD and don't like to belong to multiple sites,, but if needs be I must change , cause I like click and it works if you know what I mean lol :)

What's the site you use ratts?

This is the problem for GingaDaddy and they are still struggling.

"If any of you are familiar with AWS's S3 workings, particularly restoring backup file via rsync or scp please let us know as I have been unable to get a connection server to server to restore the AWS remote backup. Again uploading the backup from my local pc is going to take days. We may just forget restoring site on current host server and just restore all on new host server when it is ready. Sorry again but new host is providing a server with all brand name and brand new hardware so once up on it should have no server hardware issues for years."

And their latest update is ::

"Can't seem to get the most updated database backup to restore without errors. each restore attempt takes 6-8 hrs and we are 7 hrs into the 2nd attempt. Working non-stop to get things back up. Sorry for the extended downtime."

Sounds like a shambles lol, and you lot think I'm bad :)

Everyone likes a moan about something and it will nearly always be about something close or that directly affects them.
These type of problems always appear to be a shambles but unless you are the person actually working on it you will never know the problems being encountered.
So, personally I only have respect for those (like yourself & Rat.....note this is not meant to be a brown nose session !) who give up their own time to provide the usually excellent service that the various web site provide.
In the meantime I hope GingaDaddy have a bit of luck go their way in sorting things out.

They are back up and running now, might take them a short while to get up to date but at least they seem to have found their problem.

I miss NZBMatrix that was the best NZB search engine hands down! NZBGeek is another good site I use when gingadaddy is down.
