Last 2 days my newsdemon speed as gone from 11-12MB/s to just a fews kb/s -2MB/s, i've tried all that i can think off to rectify including.
Switching from sabnzb to altbinz.
changing ports from 563 to 80, 81
tried US rather then European servers
dozens of nzb files from minutes old to 100's.
scanned with numerous anti spyware/virus programs (safe mode)

everything is saying no problems with connection provider and reader connect fine, last thing i grabbed was BF4 and installed it but surely cant be that, can it ?
torrents still dl at same speed so not a isp issue.

anyone got a clue please ?

Mine went really slow on Thursday, both newsgroups and torrents, but downloading videos from youtube went at full speed, so did downloading directly from websites. Everything is ok now though.

I'm on virginmedia.

Funny thing is when I went to their status page after logging into my account (so they would know where I live) the message said they have a problem in my area and also I may have trouble using the wi-fi on the London Underground, which I suppose is correct as I'm in Runcorn. :)

Seems to be picking up a bit now, i'm up to to 6MB/s so now only half speed (i'm on 120 MB) , Virgin have changed the boxes in the streets around my area in the last week but has i have said no other download speed is affected.
Thanks guys.

Virgin have been throtteling usenet and torrents quite a bit lately, especially for us that download 4 or 5 TB per month. :)

yeah, even outside the supposed throttling period. Started download last night at 00:30 and only getting 4MB/sec on a 120mb connection.

Have you tried hellonzb I am getting very good speeds HelloNzb

A friend of mine had a similar problem when he changed from Virmin over to EE fibre his speed went at 16:30 everyday with no explanation, As a new customer he phoned to complain but was told his speed was still the 40mb as any other time of day.

A little bit of digging into EE's T&C's showed that speed is throttled from 16:30 till 01:00am everday and from 13:30 weekends till 01:00 in the morning for both Newsgroups and P2P

Moral of the story if switching providers check out every little bit of T&C's before committing

Here are the Virgin ones,

For usenet / P2P traffic shaping,

30Mb or higher

And download limits which TBH are not a huge issue, they throttle 120mb connection to 100mb, lol

Thresholds

Checked my sabnzb logs for last night and TV downloads kicked off at around 3am, downloaded around 10GB at max speed from astraweb EU server no problem. Kicked off a 12GB download at 8am this morning and that downloaded at full speed as well so it seems to be better at the moment.

I'm with sky Fibre and it is constantly dropping to 2mb then back upto 20meg.
