I've been looking at VPN providers to access SKY GO from oversea's and stumbled on
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
Unlike true VPN, this service uses a DNS change, so importantly it has no slow down effect (VPNs pass through dedicated servers) and you retain your full download speed for streaming. Cheap too!!

Seems like good deal. Also have vpn which I guess you could use for torrent/newgroups. I've just signed up for trial unfortunately vpn option is not included.

...

There is a 3 day VPN trial as well. Found it now.

Tried VPN and speed is reasonable. Got 60 meg using VPN compared to 80 meg.

My membership with Astrill has just ended and I do like them but they only allow one device to be connected at a time. Unless you buy the Home Plan which takes its up to $130 a year. Thinking of going with Unotelly as their VPN is only $60 and no limit on devices connected.

Can't you just change the dns you use yourself for free or am I missing something ?

yes you can but in order for your ip to connect to their dns server it needs to be authorised, and thats what you pay for.

Hmmmm . But there are plenty of dns addys to be had on the Internet for different countries that don't require authorisation right ?

If you need regular use of a vpn then hidemyass.com is best works out around £55 per year

Anyone else finding unotelly is still working long after the 8 day free trial? My wdtv live is still connecting to the usa netflix lol

i have a dynamic ip so how does it know that my new ip is from me to authorise it using the DNS

Seems though with my expired account although I can still access USA netflix no problem on my wdtv live no other online services even load up, strange how netflix continues to plod along though
