Newsgroups download slow?

Hi,

Since yesterday I've noticed downloading from newgroup is really slow. Speedtest is showing full download is correct but when using VM and newsdemon, I'm getting download speed right now at 244KB/s. Its usually between 5 - 9meg.

Newsdemon servers are showing normal service.

Anyone else having slow downloads?

it will be virgin up to their usual traffic management pish, try downloading between midnight and 10am and you should get full speed.

see if you can change the port that might help

nps m8 happy to help, i had to change mine when vermin started shaping newsgroup traffic, if you check your newsgroup providers connection page im sure that they will have at least 2 if not more ports for you to try, i dont think it will solve the problem if you have reached the dl limit though!

I tried this morning and speed all back to normal now.

sounds like you are most likely hitting you download limit and then they are shaping (slowing) your traffic, im on the 50mb so dont get slowed but as i said i did have to change ports when they started shaping newsgroup traffic a while back!

Think it was a newsdemon problem as i had the same yesterday, but using astrawebs connection it was fine.
