Guys im looking for a little help using my computer surround on my tv. My setup - I have a shuttle cube connected to tv via HDMI (it also has optical out) Also have dm800se and PS3 connected via HDMI. My tv has these outputs along with AV in

I have this 5.1 system which has 3 male jacks which obviously usually hooks up to my audio card n pc.

What im after is this to connect to my tv so I can get all 3 devices through the speakers, preferably without buying any more expensive devices. I thot about this and this but looking for some advice if this would work or if an easier workaround....thanks

The optical to 3.5mm adapter won't work as all it does it allows the connection of a 3.5mm optical cable to a TosLink port - i.e. it doesn't convert light pulses to electical signals.

If you have a headphone socket, your "best" option for those speakers is the discontinued Logitech Game Console Adapter. However, as the feed from the TV will be 2.0, you'll only get 'fake' 5.1.

A cheaper alternative, but still 2.0 and requires powering, is an optical to RCA convertor.

I take it that the only other route would be to get an amp? any recommendations mate which aren't too pricey even 2nd hand options

Whats your budget as you can pick some up from around £99 which are all mainly 3D Blu ray compatible

i may just ditch they speakers then and get a whole setup. what price would be a good starter pack?
