wasnt sure where to post this but thought audio and visions probably best place, anyway im helping a friend with his cctv set up, he has 2 cameras on outside of his house, one wire comes into the house with s video connection and plugs into a buzzer box, the box buzzes everytime someone comes in camera view, then out of this buzzer box comes a wire with a scart connection on the end and it goes into his old 14 inch tv, the old tvs with a video player built in, he wants to change them tvs with 2 monitors he has spare, he bought a scart extender block and a scart to vga lead and tried using them to go from the scart end of the camera lead to one of his monitors but it didnt work, the other camera set up is pretty much the same, so is there some sort of box converter or something you can get to make these cameras work on these monitors he has spare ? these monitors are spare pc monitors he has got, quite oldish ones with only a vga connection, thanks

Could it be that the signal coming from the camera is still s VHS? Svhs can be transferred via scart. I don't know if a scart to VGA would convert the svhs signal. Was the old tv/VCR input labled with an "s" on the display? Most sony tv sets used to do this for svhs

its a philips tv/vcr, on the front where the video would go in it just says vhs, can see anywhere it says svhs so im not sure to be honest, ive pluged the scart lead coming from the camera into a input scart box and then plugged a s video lead from the out put of this scart box thing ive found and it comes up on a tv with a s video slot like that but obviously can try it on the monitor as it hasnt got a s video slot, not sure if that helps, by the looks of things its the scart to vga lead thats the problem int it ? thanks
