hi can anyone recommend a good gigabit router with (If posible) usb and supported by dd-wrt. I have been looking at the d-link 655 if anyone as any views on that one, any help would be great, cheers.

i must say i have this one and after i upgraded the firmware it has been rock solid

I would go with Krugers recommendation as it is one of the best out there.

It's a cracking bit of kit, I have one. Linksys is still king for me.

thanks for the replies lads sorry it took so long to reply ive been up to my neck in paint, ive decided to go with the WRT610N tbh i didnt want to pay that much at 1st but after reading the spec i need it lol, does anyone know the best/cheapest place for one the best i can find it for is £110 but im quiting smoking this week so ill be loaded lol but cheaper would definatly be better, any help would be great, thanks again.

Cracking find and price Kruger m8

thanks again for the replies but i think theres something fishy about the one for 66 on amazon i may be wrong but i went to order that one last night but they dont mention in the market place that its the wrt610n so i cut and pasted the main bits from the martket place one into google and the description is the same one for the wrt600n my guess is when it turns up it will be that one so ive left it to be on the safe side, ive only been looking for a new router since sunday (the day after i went bowlers ..???) the cashback may have swayed me though,this is where i am at the moment lol

ive fitted network points all round my flat wired to a patch panel in a cab with servers switches nas etc in the middle room, ive been using hdmi + usb over ethernet to set my pc as a media center for bedroom and living room and to transfer the ps3 and sat into the bedroom lol the ps3 bluetooth controllers work no probs and i have media center remotes to use with the usb over ethernet, the sat works through hdmi over ethernet and i use a iphone app as a remote i did all this and bought a gigabit switch so i thought if i got the new router that would finish the job off as my pc & 1 server are allready 10/100/1000 so i may need to buy a couple of nics and but im not sure if i will need to yet.

thanks for that m8 ive actually had my eye on that one the only thing putting me off is its a factory returns which wouldnt normally bother me but these routers are highly rated everywhere so i could only imagine it would of been returned because its damaged and for the extra 15 buying new i would get the 12month waranty too saying that if i put dd-wrt are on it straight away i suppose the warranty would be out the window anyway.

A bit off subject but im buying this to replace the one virgin gave me when i signed up to 50mb its the d-link dir615 which i have had issues with like not being able to login, it takes ages to load up or it dosent load up the gui at all but i put dd-wrt on it and ive not had 1 problem at all since and it runs miles better now so if anyone as one of these i would definatly put dd-wrt on it for me it made a serious improvement and i probably wouldnt replace it if it was a gigabit.

@Marra

Did you put a list of that gadgets you are using on these forums somewhere ? I am sure I read it but I can't find it now. I am interested in your extended HDMI doings.

Ta.

thanks for everyones help ive ended up buying a wrt610n from ebuyer as a exdisplay for £95 open box it says in the description it has a 3month warranty so i suppose if its gonna go wrong it will within the first 3 months. also should i install dd-wrt straight away or is worth staying with the original f/w, thanks again everyone.

Do they have to be wired directly (source to tv) or can you use a switch/hub with them ? I get the feeling they are just splitting the HDMI connctors up so wont be able to use a switch since in this case they are not using TCP/IP ?
