Is it normal for a DM800 to decide whether or not it can be bothered booting up?

This one I have here boots up whenever it feels in the mood, I plug the power in and it just sits there with a blank screen until I pull the power back out and pop it back in a few times!

Surely this can't be right? :err:

Same thing happens with mine, eventually it does boot up but it seems this happens quite a bit.

Every now and then mine does the same, you have to switch off and on again, must be common on them boxes, still a pain in the grass like.

Mine just seems to sit at the Dream Multimedia screen even when it does boot.

First impressions of these clones are that they are complete and utter garbage!

EDIT.....It was actually User Error - mine to be specific, lol.

This box just boots to the LCD and displays Dream MultiMedia then sits there doing nothing. :err:

Is it maybe needing reflashed?

I had just added someone to my cccam.cfg then rebooted the box, then it decided not to come back on again, lol

I've tried connecting it to DreamUP but it can't see it. :(

lol

I've got it talking to DreamUp 1.3.3.5 :)

I had an older version installed and it was having none of it.

mine did the same when i got mine mate just reflash and it should be right only prob ive had with mine is the power supply socket on the back is a bit dodgy sometimes when you put the power in you need to turn it to get it to power on.

Strange, what image you using and has it got the built in bootloader.

nae wonder flickster wanted shot of it lol.

Now Now!! lol, i just didnt like enigma2, when i had it working (after many fooking hours trying to learn to tune in sats) it works no probs,,but , if like W , u like to play about wi them, u learn as u go along

@ witchy,,type 192.16.*.* and see if web interface comes up,,i think i turned it off,,or do factory reset,,load ur settings again,,like JTH says count to 30,,and it will power up,,(ALL are same). Best thing i liked was the youtube plugin,,lol sad eh

The web interface doesn't get a chance to load mate, the box locks up at the initial Dream MultiMedia logo, pressing the power button as you plug in the power just makes it crash instantly, it doesn't go into the STOP! mode where u can access the Web Interface.

The latest version of DreamUP can see the box, but after it loads up the initial bit of code it just freezes displaying 'Waiting for Acknowledgement..." in DreamUp.

The DM800 LCD never changes from the DMM Logo.

My next move is to format my PC and install WInXP, maybe DreamUp doesn't like Win7? :err:

It's so frustrating, DreamUp knows it's there but the box doesn't want to respond.

By the time I get this sorted, I'll be opening my own Dreambox clinic, lol

Have u tried to reflash with diff bootloader? as was all ok last night when u tried, like a said in pm,,there is another "special" dreamup out there which will do trick,,? i will find it and check pm for hotmail addy m8

windows 7 has virtual xp,feck knows if any good though lol

I got it sorted.

Flickster sent me a hacked/moddified version of DreamUp which forces the box to take a new bootloader. I'll file attach it here as I'm sure I'll not be the only one to be needing it. :)

I didn't need to revert back to XP, I did it all in Win7 without Compatibility mode.
A big THANK YOU to Flickster for his patience and expert help.
