Sony has revealed it is to launch a 160GB PlayStation 3 console in Europe on October 31 during its press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention.

Present David Reeves told the audience that the new system will retail for €449 (£355) and will include €70 (£55) worth of additional downloadable content, which will be detailed near to its launch.

Sony only confirmed its 80GB PS3 at the E3 show last month.

Despite initially stating the 80GB PS3 will launch on August 27, however, Reeves confirmed at Leipzig that it will now launch this tomorrow.

well thats a kick in the teeth for the faith ful few who bough the 60gb at relese

Grrrrr  you mean the likes of me, i bought one in June of the release year with Resistance FOM for £425 and now you get this. Oh well i knew it would happen, i just didn't want to wait for price drops, i couldn't wait lol. Ill just have to get a 500gb hdd for mine once they are cheap enough. Is there any features different between the 60gb and this one??

Yeah m8 lol, Makes me wonder why they didnt give us a big hd, Suppose they wanted to be greedy and get the biggest proffet ever! Dosnt matter i all ready robbed the hd out my lappy for this lol

imo ps3 should work on getting software out like home etc rather than bringing out different consoles

why is that???

the 60gb is still the best out of the lot.

the 60gb plays ps2 games, has card readers and has 4 usb ports. the new one has none of this.

the only extras it has is a bigger hard drive. are you really that surprised that sony have released a version with a bigger HDD???? if u want more space than your 60gb, go out and buy a 320gb drive, thay are dirt cheap. the new one also comes with a new dualshock controller but that can be bought also.

u cant buy ps2 backwards compatibility, card readers or extra internal usb ports

Well said, The only limit to size of HD in my 60GB ps3 is the size of commercially available 2.5 HD's

I assumed that sony would be putting all of that on the 160gb one
