OK, let me set the scene. I bought a car off my ex's Dad, a Saab 95. Seemed like a good deal at the time but I've had no end of problems with it. My current problem is that the locking wheel nuts on the car were of a non standard type and neither I nor he had the necessary socket to remove them. I went round a few places who said they would just charge labour to hack them off. Then, a mate who is a welder said he could weld a socket onto the nut and remove it that way.

Took the car to him this afternoon and he spent ages fooking around before deciding he couldn't do it after all. On the way home I went to a tyre place and paid £60 to get them taken off as I'm sick to death of the whole thing. Problem being is the one wheel he tried with the welding kit has more or less destroyed the alloy. Does anyone know of any breakers or scrappers where I might get a single alloy wheel to replace the knackered one? I don't want a whole new set, more money and trouble than its worth on this POS. I'm planning to get rid of the car but need it for a few more weeks yet!

Have a look here there are some links, I have used Neo Brothers before they are a bit expensive but they had the part I needed.

Thins to look forward to on a saab 95, well my old X-reg one

Dead pixels on the trip display
Split breather pipes on the engine
Split suspension bushes
Blown turbo

Bic...

ouch 60 notes
you can get various locking nut removers that work real well and will get off http://www.screwfix.com/prods/94826/Automotive/Mechanics-Tools/Emergency-Locking-Wheel-Nut-Remover-4-Pc
this set is just a score with next day delivery theres this type for little over £25 and work like this http://www.lockingwheelnutremover.co.uk/video.html

not rubbing your nose in it just posted for the info of others as tbh we see this all the time We use a reverse threaded socket thats cone shaped so will grab most nuts no matter what shape they are and a impact drive takes no more than 10mins for the whole operation ,.

m80 just put a 19ins socket hit with hammer untill it is stuck then try and take off thats how i get them off it might fook the socket but gets the weel off

You could of just parked it round Krazylegz neck of the woods they would of been off in five mins

nice one m8 thats better than you taken it off lol make sure ins is up to date lol

For future ref. to get locking wheel nuts off all u need is a good chissel and a heavy hammer.
Had to do a few like this myself.

Or his other 5 posts 😉

I dont like digging the alloy wheels with a chisel which is 100% going to damage alloys
