I am wanting to buy a new xbox 360 but would like one with hdmi and the latest cooler running chipset. If i buy one from Curry's or Comet for example and it s not the one i want they will not exchange it (a friend tried this). After reading a few posts here it seem consoles are exempt from most stores money back guarantees, does anyone one know of any high street stores who are not so fussy?

For what you are wanting to know mate the return policy of any retail outlet is sort of irrelevent because you can check the box before you buy as the info you seek is on there mate. The hdmi port is listed under contents console specification as you can see from pics and the giveaway of the falcons is the power supply rating on the barcoding sticker...again see pics...if it says 175w its the falcon if says 203w then it isnt.

Any good shop should be willing to help you locate this info because it will mean a sale for them :)

hope that helps mate

Welcome to the forums by the way :)

Thanks for the reply:) makes life easier. I'd still like to know the stores that have sensible returns policy though as if it did go faulty i couldn't be arsed to deal with M/softs customer services again unless it was out of 1yr warramty and it was the rrod. Perhaps i'd better read up on the sale of goods act but i've heard places like Comet / Curry's try and fob you off.

good tip!

will it still be possible to mod to play backups ?

Yes mate... modding is nothing to do with whether the console has the falcon chipset and the newer cooling system... its the dvd-rom drive that is modded :)

sorry, that is kinda of what I mean't to ask

have they switched to any new hardware with thie new version to prevent the modding ?

Cheers

No Mate... as said above everything available at this point can be modded but if you're thinking of dipping your toes in the water so to speak then don't leave it too long because a new lite-on drive emerged last week ;)
