Hi,

You could try shutting down core 1 and just leave core 0 running and run the program.

Hi,

Start prog(ifa), right click on taskbar at bottom of screen and select task manager or press control/alt/delete once to bring up task manager, click processes tab, look for ifa prog(ifa.exe??), right click on prog, select set affinity, de-tick cpu 1 - leave tick in cpu 0 and exit task manager, done!

Hope this helps

Chris,
I'm running a lappy with AMD dual core. Here are my personal notes on flashing with IFA. ( I use V2.2 - you should download the latest version for free from hallenberg.com, it should work the same - make sure you select English language during installation !!!! )
I don't have a null modem cable but this works for me almost always first time using xover cable only and takes about three minutes to flash,

IFA version 2.2

Turn off windows firewall
Disable wireless network connection

set LAN network IP to 192.168.0.201
( IFA automatically sets dbox IP to 192.168.0.202 )

open IFA
select image for flashing ( make sure it's a proper image ( .img ) file and correct type 1x / 2x )
select network device
switch dbox on
press start
a dialogue box pops up
switch dbox off
click ok
switch box on
flashing should begin
progress is indicated on LCD ( IFA image on TV screen )
Fertig and smiley faces on LCD means success
disconnect network
off then on at the mains
GOOD LUCK

Chris,

I should have also mentioned that you should have your network link speed set to 10Mbps/Half Duplex.

Brilliant directions by rod there...but if you gettin address in use error, you must change that ip address.
Try changing the last 3 numbers to 205 ? or 206 or could you even set network to obtain address automatically and let IFA give your machine an address (which is wot its supposed to do)

chrispeters (come on you whites)
tried that chris changed from 201 to 200 and tried 203 still the same.

Chris,

Scratching my head a bit here, IFA can play funny beggars sometimes !!!

OK, try this :

after your error message. ( with IFA still running )

Switch dbox off.
Expand Dbox boot manager window then select the Settings tab and change
the Dbox IP to suit your network. ( it should be 192.168.0.202 )
Click Start
Switch dbox on.
Hopefully it will flash first time. If not try a few times !

GOOD LUCK

If you've got some sort of Network Share setup on your puter (ie- for a Mount to record from dbox etc), IFA can't grab the NIC all to itself, coz XP / Vista won't let it. So IFA can't do it's job.

So I have a 'clean' XP boot on my second HDD to run IFA, rather than going through the hassle of disabling all the sharing stuff in Networks. Best bet is maybe an old lappie with a proper serial port, for those special IFA occasions, LOL!

Cheers- AL

I understand what Al means, however I personally have had no probs flashing with IFA with my dual core. The strange thing is I also have a shared network!!!!!!!!!!! ( mounted folder ) Maybe I am just lucky.LOL!
Try flashing with crossover cable only ( I know its against all the best advice ) - you've nothing to lose !!

All the best
