NoOne has just pointed out to me what could be JTAG point's for the 250 modem!

It involves drilling the PCB to expose them, sounds like fun :Kickassro

Anyone know more about this, specifically which point is what and does it work with Blackcat?

:)

so it can be done then yea? would u be able to flash dead modems like this?

That's what it's for m8 ;)

Anyone got the full details?

(Just paid £30 for a 5101E too :( LOL)

:)

Looking at the pics ive seen here and elsewhere it looks like a nightmare to do though!!! Hopefully it will get simplified for us mere mortals witha soldering iron!!!

Someone send me a JTAG lead so i can test.. hehe.. anyone know where theres any going for cheap?

i have a modem here well less the case

it has never been used it is an ntl business 2020 is it any good???

Looks like it would take as much work as desoldering the chip. Guess you save the money on the willem programmer though.

So are those contacts directly on to the pins of the chip? How did you figure out to look under that part of the board?

if you cant make a jtag lead then forget this.
I think those points are under the chip ffs.

Best to take up neural surgery at college first.

If that sarcasm was directed at me then why even bother NoOne?
I didn't say i couldnt make a JTAG lead did i?
I'm quite capable of making a lead.. ive made a max232 and that was a peice of piss..
I didnt get qualifications in electronics for nothing did i?
is your post useful to me?
I think not.. and what do you mean forget this?
do i hear you shouting "SURE IM WILLING TO SACRIFISE A COUPLE OF 250'S TO TEST FOR US'??

On a final and more polite note..
@ 'mrcon' cheers matey

hi m8, never did 1 but i image they can be done as i ther r a similar version to the 200's and if the chipset isnt 0btc it should possible to change the f/w or just run it original f/w

Well as most of you know I have a few building blocks to play with from figuring out the restore to origional...lol

So if someone would kindly point out all the information as to where all the blooming wire's are coming from and going to?, I would gladly have a stab at this ;)

:)

@ davidh
every report i've seen says its not possible to do a 200 hack on that modem, significant hardware difference (not just memory - they just get bricked. they are few and far between dont waste it, better to protect that firmware.

Monkey

Be very careful, The Ambit 200 /250 modems are built using multi layer PCB, and there is a very good chance that you will slice through some of the tracks.

Just a word of caution,

Best of luck my friend
