Hi Guys,

I have an Iomega Screenplay DX HD which has served me well up until last week, but no longer seems to get movie covers and movie info from TMDb (or IMDB I'm not sure which it is now). This basically turns an ok media player in to brick as far as I'm concerned as the machine does not store cover and movie info but grabs it each time the machine is started up. So it basically now makes navigation and selecting the movie you want to watch a dreadful affair.

I found a forum of their website with a few posts from other users with some issue, but no real answers. Has anyone else had this problem recently, or know what the issue is (is it Iomega end or did TMDb change something on their end)?

Has anyone had an success with modifying the firmware for this box as the firmware and skin are pretty lame anyway, so figure I might get my hands dirty if they are no longer supporting API to IMDB/TMDb.

Thanks.

Could be a new API or an automatic firmware update incompatible with the old API, but it could also be a licence hasn't been renewed by LenovoEMC after the Iomega rebranding in January.

Interestingly, although the product is not listed on the LenovoEMC website, it is still available from the likes of Dabs.

Hi codepatcher, sorry to hear of your issue......... Now, I know this might seem dreadfull and maybe too long (depending on the size of your movie collection), but have you looked into potentially creating the files separately for the movies in your collection and keeping them in the same folder as a movie? That way you would not be as reliant on the iomega screengrab feature.
For example: movie covers are super easy to do, you just need to rename the jpg to folder.jpg and it will show

I must admit, I manage all my own metadata for my movies/TV shows myself - I use 'meta browser 0.9' for tv and media master for movies.

Stores it all in the folders rather than fetching - means I can choose fav images/backdrops

EDIT : just realised it's an old thread from a clocker
