    Raspberry Pi 2 B+

Anyone got one and doing anything other than running Kodi formally known as XBMC?

Got one but don't know when Win10 IoT version will be out, any suggestions for a started project? Already have a NAS so was looking at something like simple home automation?

    Re: Raspberry Pi 2 B+

Got mine to swap in the SD card from a B+
I use mine as a Subsonic music server (the B+) and up until a recent OS upgrade which broke the functionality I also had it as a VPN (L2TP).

As Subsonic is Java based it used a lot of memory. The B+ just runs it ok using 200mb memory. With the 2 I should be able to throw three times that at it and it should run flawlessly.

The best thing is it is powered by the USB hub on my Router so it doesn't take up a power socket.

Kodi runs pretty well - UI is a little laggy but this is expected. Chuck a heatsink onto the chips and OC for even better performance.
Personally I use mine as a Mame machine - is unreal and hides behind the TV perfectly

I've a few Raspberry Pi s doing various things, one running kodi,a couple as airplay targets, and I'm in the process of getting one to run automation on my AV system.
    They're a great little box

Arduino Uno is a bit of fun too. I've programmed one to do all the various switching for my guitar system and another running a lighting rig for a band

Has anyone been able to put a reasonably newish version of the Android O.S on this. The Pi would make a great digital signage client but it needs either android or windows.

They're quite popular in the retro-gaming scene. RetroPie is able to able to run most console game ROMs all the way up to the original PlayStation. And a couple of PS2 ones too...

I also recommend Kodi - OSMC or OpenELEC are both pretty easy to install and use. Plenty of guides around for them.

    Re: Raspberry Pi 2 B+

I've two Pi's, one running as a bitcoin miner which is all very obvious but the other is a little more useful.

I'm actually nearly internet-less due to my slow speed <3mb and have a friend who lives in town with a much better internet speed (30mb). So I setup a Raspbian image to act as an uploader and a downloader for me to use.

If I want to download stuff I can add links from my home PC to the PI and then that downloads from my friends internet connection and they are saved onto an attached 32GB USB stick (Thanks to MyJDownloader).

If I want to upload then I need to copy the file(s) onto the Pi's USB stick (which I can do physically or wirelessly from my phone when I'm withing range of his wireless network) then I can VNC into the Pi to start off the upload.

I don't have direct control of the Pi from home, it's a hassle to reconfigure his router and to be honest it's probably more secure this way.

It's great, a 20/25W Pi B+ sitting on the side of the desk. Fantastic for uploading/downloading through the night without leaving your PC switched on!
