Anyone got one and doing anything other than running Kodi formally known as XBMC?

Got one but don't know when Win10 IoT version will be out, any suggestions for a started project? Already have a NAS so was looking at something like simple home automation?

Got mine to swap in the SD card from a B+
I use mine as a Subsonic music server (the B+) and up until a recent OS upgrade which broke the functionality I also had it as a VPN (L2TP).

As Subsonic is Java based it used a lot of memory. The B+ just runs it ok using 200mb memory. With the 2 I should be able to throw three times that at it and it should run flawlessly.

The best thing is it is powered by the USB hub on my Router so it doesn't take up a power socket.

Kodi runs pretty well - UI is a little laggy but this is expected. Chuck a heatsink onto the chips and OC for even better performance.
Personally I use mine as a Mame machine - is unreal and hides behind the TV perfectly

I've a few Raspberry Pi s doing various things, one running kodi,a couple as airplay targets, and I'm in the process of getting one to run automation on my AV system.
They're a great little box

Arduino Uno is a bit of fun too. I've programmed one to do all the various switching for my guitar system and another running a lighting rig for a band

Has anyone been able to put a reasonably newish version of the Android O.S on this. The Pi would make a great digital signage client but it needs either android or windows.

They're quite popular in the retro-gaming scene. RetroPie is able to able to run most console game ROMs all the way up to the original PlayStation. And a couple of PS2 ones too...

I also recommend Kodi - OSMC or OpenELEC are both pretty easy to install and use. Plenty of guides around for them.

I've two Pi's, one running as a bitcoin miner which is all very obvious but the other is a little more useful.

I'm actually nearly internet-less due to my slow speed <3mb and have a friend who lives in town with a much better internet speed (30mb). So I setup a Raspbian image to act as an uploader and a downloader for me to use.

If I want to download stuff I can add links from my home PC to the PI and then that downloads from my friends internet connection and they are saved onto an attached 32GB USB stick (Thanks to MyJDownloader).

If I want to upload then I need to copy the file(s) onto the Pi's USB stick (which I can do physically or wirelessly from my phone when I'm withing range of his wireless network) then I can VNC into the Pi to start off the upload.

I don't have direct control of the Pi from home, it's a hassle to reconfigure his router and to be honest it's probably more secure this way.

It's great, a 20/25W Pi B+ sitting on the side of the desk. Fantastic for uploading/downloading through the night without leaving your PC switched on!

I'm using mine as a ipcam I'll be putting one in a birdbox for next spring

Raspberry Pi Temp Monitor - vidme

I made a temperature monitor for its CPU.

> A simple script that monitors the temp & outputs a number
> A script that displays the temp

I upgraded it later on to activate a fan to cool itself down. The best bits with Pi's are the IO ports and getting them to do something physical.

I have 5 raspberry's and using it for Domoticz with different receivers on 433Mhz sensors.

I have two, one is always on and has SABnzb and Sickbeard running on it. Downloads all my tv shows to a NAS drive on my network.

The other one i setup a few weeks back to act as TOR and also have a wifi broadcast, i only use this for if i can't get anything via newsgroups and then power it on and use torrents via it (although haven't had to do this yet as found everything i need in last few weeks via nzbs)

I'm using my Pi for Sickbeard & Sabnzbd as well. Have you tried couchpotato yet?

Also, for Tor, did you download an image or is there a guide you followed?

Thanks

I did try couch potato but for some reason it kept downloading the same film file several times and I couldn't get it to stop, although need to take a look at this again some time.

For tor I followed this guide - Portable RasPi Tor Router • Hackaday.io

Please, any free link to raspberry books ? thanks. .
You don't need books. Google is your friend and sites like Hackster.io have great projects.

Books go out of date quickly.
