Helicopters

Not really a hobby yet as this was a first flight but I'm tempted!

Expensive though and looks soooo easy! They're as twitchy as feck and it's pretty much all 'seat of the pants' stuff but great fun

I've got a cheap electric one. Syma s33. I'd love a nitro rc one but ££ prohibits it

I had an Esky honeybee CPv3 - It was lethal. Nearly took my fingers off. Hard as hell to try and fly. Never got it off the ground as was worried it would flip and smash itself to bits. Lost interest and sold it.

You are best off finding a local flying club and speaking to the people there. They may let you have a go!

They'll probably tell you to fly 'tethered' until you've mastered hover. It's pretty much the hardest part.

I had this weird base thing on the bottom, sticking out the side with ping pong balls which supposedly helped you learn. Wish I'd made more of an effort now. I still have one, but it's one I crashed and I have no inclination to spend money on it. Should sell it come to think of it. Transmitter must be worth £10 at least haha

The capabilitys of the 3d/stunt choppers are amazing and i think would be much more challenging than a plug n play quadcopter, i beleive you can fly via a phone app now ! ive not done the helis but only recently sold up my fixed wing RC collection as i seem to collect more hobbies than i have time to use lol.

I agree.

I have a few quad copters aswell. Alot of fun and much easier to fly than rc helicopters.

I also fly FPV alot now. Camera on the front with a live video link. Doesnt get closer to real flying than that! the only option for us guys that cant afford real heli licenses!
