my best treadmill 10k, 44:49.

I then did my stretches, and ate two large sausage rolls to celebrate.

Am I a twat?

im not answering one way or another. maybe turn this thread in to a poll???

yep u r a TWAT!

I like clear answers, thanks.

Hmm, the 'Is mozr a twat' poll?

That's open to debate. What did you use to wash down the sausage rolls?

Water. I had no Ribena left. And it was too early for a beer, even for me.

For the excercise or the eating?

Either, both, or none of those reasons.

Well then. Exercise is good for you, food is good for you.

So my answer is no, or maybe, or yes, but not for the reasons given.

On a serious note thats a great time pal.

Do you run any 10k races?

Yeah was just gonna say the same thing... that's a GOOD time - you must have been almost doing 6minutes per mile?!

Well done.

Go 'head and have your sausage rolls and Ribenas mate - you've earnt them! lol!!

Thanks lads.

6.214miles (rounded up from 6.21371192) is 10K.

I ran at 9mph (14.5kph) for about 12-13 minutes, then slowed to 8.5mph for 10 minutes, then 8mph until I ran for 30 minutes in total. I increased and decreased my speed according to how fast I felt, never going under 8mph.

Average stats are:

7m13s per mile split

4m 29s per kilometre split

Speed average 8.32Mph, 13.39 Kph.

I wish!

If I ever run a 10k in 37m20s, then I will be running 6 minute miles!

My fastest 4 mile is 27:27, 6m52sec splits. If I can keep under 7 minute splits my next 10k goal is to beat 43:30. That is doable in the next month easy. I hope! I need to run the first 20minutes at 9mph to give me a chance.

Not one. I run on my treadmill during the week and up and around my local hill at weekend.

I need to try some competition. I hate people too much though. :)

I have just realised I am hooked!

Nice going there mozr.

I used to run on these contraptions, until they started creating havoc with my knees.

I've stopped going to the local gym now, but while I did, the treadmill & the stepper were the only machines I'd use.

I'd alternate between inclines of 3 - 12% to give my calf muscles a workout.

I found that music helps me during my sessions.

My current favourite is "Toquemada's Tunes to Train by".

I was given a copy of this due to there being some trouble at treadmill.
All the beams had gone askew.
They kept asking questions about it, but I wasn't expecting the Spanish inquisition.
It was at this point, the doors flew open and 3 blokes dressed in crimson burst through the door and....

Oh fcek it, you know the rest.

I don't use the incline on the treadmill. I prefer using it for speedwork, and use the local hill for the 'Rocky Balboa' stuff. Plus, the only well developed muscle group I have are my calves (all that hill walking paid off). In fact my weakness is aerobic fitness, so I try to focus on heart rate, and breathing. My legs could run all day (slight twinge in the left knee, possibly needing an athroscopy somewhere down the line).

I prefer to just listen to real recordings of people being tortured for not being of the right religious persuasion.

If I get bored of that I pack a playlist full of hard rock/ punk and mouth along to the songs whilst breathing. I am mostly listening to early Manics at the moment ('Faster' makes me go faster).

But yes it does help. It's like having Buster Meredith screaming in your ear.

Geez mate I never knew you were an Ethiopian.

Next achievement, sub 1 hour 8 mile treadmill:

57:49 secs

Average splits

1 Mile 00:07:13.62
2 Mile 00:14:27.25
3 Mile 00:21:40.87
4 Mile 00:28:54.5
5 Mile 00:36:08.12
6 Mile 00:43:21.75
7 Mile 00:50:35.37
8 Mile 00:57:49

Actual Splits vary, as I ran at 9mph for 13 minutes, then 8.5mph for 7minutes, then stayed at 8mph for the rest. Oh ran the last 10th of a mile at 9mph.

I want to be doing weekly half marathons by the end of the month/start of April.

Now for my dins.

Yum.

I gave up exercise after I asked my Chinese doctor a few questions. Here's what he had to say!

chinesedoc.jpg

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise
program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good
____________________________________

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
____________________________________

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have body fat, your ratio is one to
one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
____________________________________

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste
them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart
will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life
of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and
corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an
efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain?
Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy
vegetable).

And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of
vegetable products.
____________________________________

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that
means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the
goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
____________________________________

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In
fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for
you?
____________________________________

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should
only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
____________________________________

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO ..... Cocoa beans ... another vegetable!!! It's
the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Ran 4 miles in 30 mins on tuesday, which killed me.

My legs were still full of lactic acid, and ive got 4 blisters on my right foot.

Felt better today.

I just knocked some more time off my treadmill 10k - 44:25. (same strategy, I just started sprinting earlier toward the end.)
